This can be a good dealio.
But you have 2 have competent people running it. LEO's, not Politicians.
St.Louis started theirs again in February of last year. they offered $100 for handguns, $150 for shotguns and rifles, and $200 for assault-style rifles.
NO Questions asked, when you turned them in. No prints pulled, they were all put in a pile, and sent to be melted.
Guy i know, said half the people were inner city mothers and wives/girlfriends, turning in their sons, husbands guns that they had in their homes.
2/3 of the guns bought for melting were stolen from stupid rednecks who leave their guns in the trunks when they come downtown, locked in a box, then put in the trunk.
So, all the thieves have to do is pop the trunk and the case and guns are theirs. One dumb redneck had 6 guns in his trunk last year before they popped his trunk.
Nothing says gun safety like arming the shite heads of st.louis with new and loaded weapons, for free.
