Total a few billion now but if Ukraine falls, it will be a helluva lot more annually to support having troops all over Eastern Europe like we had based in Germany for decades.

Pay up now or a lot more later. I bet you never have oil changed in your vehicles because it costs too much.

Perfectly fine. I'll kick a few bucks their way, to beat the hell out of a geostrategic enemy for the last century, in a fashion that makes the only other potential global player have to undergo a top to bottom systemic re-evaluation of whether or not their gear is worth a flying shite.

This is like asking if I mind when I pay for a meal ingredient, as though its asking if I mind paying a tip.

This isn't a tip, an add on, or an extra. This is a supremely cost effective way of spending a single month's Pentagon budget over two years, to wreck an adversary's military for, conservatively, a decade.

Did you not read about the intel leak? Ukraine won’t survive another year per our intel.

Honest question. I’m in the process of submitting tax info and I noticed that I owe a bit to the feds. Are any the pro Ukraine war folks fine with their taxes going to Ukraine?

I suppose this means you’re happy with all fed govt line items your tax dollars are used for otherwise?

How did you get to that conclusion? I’m not for any of it. But I’d rather give my money to Americans over a failed Ukraine war.

Key Takeaways

The Russian military command appears to be increasingly shifting responsibility for offensive operations in Ukraine to the Russian Airborne (VDV) troops.

News of Teplinsky’s reappointment suggests that the Russian MoD is seeking to work more closely with the Wagner Group in order to complete the capture of Bakhmut, despite obvious tensions between Prigozhin and the traditional MoD establishment.

Russian milbloggers seized on an opportunity to denigrate St. Petersburg Mayor Alexander Beglov in a manner that indicates that Wagner Group financier Yevgeny Prigozhin’s anti-Beglov campaign has permeated the Russian ultra-nationalist information space.

The Wagner Group returned 130 Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) on April 16, suggesting that Wagner may have engaged in the exchange independent of the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD).

The Wagner Group may be attempting to force mobilized Russian personnel to sign contracts with Wagner, possibly in an effort to offset Wagner’s losses in Ukraine.

Russian forces conducted limited ground attacks south of Kreminna.

Russian forces continued ground attacks in and around Bakhmut and along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line.

Russian forces reportedly intensified the rate of artillery strikes in southern Ukraine.

Russian mobilized personnel continue to publish public complaints against Russian commanders alleging mistreatment.

A Russian source stated that the Wagner Group is involved in the removal of Ukrainian children from Bakhmut

For starters, it’s never been an either or choice. Both occur, and will continue to. Govt doesn’t cut spending. That said, I’d rather spend money on meaningful national defense than on continuing to support Shaquita’s 12th kid she’s mooching the system with.

I’d rather my taxes go to the Ukraine than to welfare mothers, paying off student loans, slum lords, climate control, or so many of the other wasteful and nonessential programs we all support.

How does Ukraine in any way relate to US national defense?

At best, this is a European concern.

Perhaps one day you’ll meet a woman willing to bear your children. If so, by the time they’re in high school , you most likely will have Venmo. If not then, 100% chance you’ll have it by the time they go off to college.

The point is the erosion of and intel on Russia.

The benefits of our support via weapons and equipment as it relates to our own defense interests have been discussed in here numerous times in detail.

From a physical land perspective and force projection/sphere of influence yes. Doesn’t mean we don’t also have valid concern for our own interests, both economic and defense.
