That’s pure fantasy. You may not want American boots on the ground, but the establishment politicians you support have expressed a very different view of what’s required to defeat Putin. For Ukraine.

The idea would be to provide them with combat-multiplying material to prevent them running out of bodies.

There you go attributing things to me I have never said. Like clockwork.
Which establishment politicians do I support?

I'm not so sure about that anymore. The rhetoric is definitely ratcheting up and I get the sense we're pot committed.

Mike Huckabee.

I think you meant “not committed”?
If so, I am not following you. We are not committed to what?

That’s a strange name to invoke, what office does he hold?
I don’t have any idea what his stance is on Ukraine, please share so I can tell you if I support it or not.

Pot committed as in poker.

I think if the West was anywhere close to considering boots on the ground we would have already seen the tap open on 4th/4.5th gen fighters and 3rd gen MBTs. I am not concerned about the possibility yet. I would be interested to know what the powers that be think are the red lines.

Sorry I am not familiar with that phrase, I assume that means something along the lines of we already have so much invested that we can’t afford to fold.
I think boots on the ground is something we fold over. That is based on the current status of the conflict. Russia could do something to change that, but based on where this all is today, I think we walk away before sending our troops into combat.

Not all that different from your position of providing munitions. But, like the rest, he won’t go so far as to say absolutely no boots on the ground.

Just to bring myself up to speed on his stance vis a vis Ukraine I googled it. I can’t find anything he has said about the war in the last 6 months. For the record I did support Huckabee as Governor, voted for him both times; however, that doesn’t have anything to do with Ukraine.
Got a more relevant establishment politician than him that I support?

I occasionally listen to his podcast and he’s very clear on Ukraine. The point is, the messaging from Chuck Schumer to Mike Huckabee is the same.

Which establishment politicians have expressed a need for our boots on the ground? I must have missed those and would like to see who it was and what they said.
Posted on 2/22/23 at 12:06 am to Pettifogger
no. and in a better world, we would have better discourse and i think this thread was a lot better at having honest discussions with people with differing views earlier in the war. it has since turned very pro ukrainian, which i support, but in doing so has created an echo chamber. it also doest help that people know that now, so edge lords come in to stir shite up which only poisons the well even further
im not trying to accuse you of this, but i just find it interesting that we tend to get people who love to play the "im neutral" card, say someone like roger, who then comes into this thread , starts talking about biolabs or talks down to us idiots for believing western progranda!!!!!, says "i cant even question anything in this reddit hivemind!!", then spends the next three months on the poliboard and oddly never speaks out against their shite even though they claim to be neutral

None of them have explicitly said that. That’s not what I said. I said none of them when pressed will say there will be no boots on the ground. Most provide some half answer about seeing it through or some nonsense.
Posted on 2/22/23 at 12:17 am to TigerOnTheMountain
No you didn’t say that exactly; however, your response to my statement implied it. Your comment was the establishment politicians have a very different view on what is required to beat Putin.
Ok, what views are those? What are they saying we should do besides providing tanks, airplanes, and modern weapon systems? That’s what I’ve seen them call for, what else do they want?

Whatever is necessary to defeat Putin in Ukraine. They have said this from the beginning. Pence said it again tonight.
Posted on 2/22/23 at 12:22 am to TigerOnTheMountain
Is it correct that the jist of Pence’s comment was: we are in a proxy war with Russia and we should do everything we can to win it?

He said Soviet Union
But yes. I know you’re going to focus on proxy, but that’s a lie. Triple Canopy just shipped out 15 yesterday. Ask your SILs.
