you do realize a lot of the talk of the "upcoming Kherson counteroffensive" was so Russia would pull divisions from the north, which is what happened, allowing Ukraine to blow through the defenders there and take back a vast area of their territory......

The Ukrainian propaganda worked too. Their population is solidified behind the Ukrainian government and their troops do no fear the Russians.

That wooded area from Lyman to the east looks like a death trap for both sides. Reminds me of the Belgian/Germany border during WW2. Fighting in that area will be down right nasty.

It would be downright nasty if the Ukrainians did not have positions north and south of the forested area. Once Lyman is encircled then Ukraine can push on Kreminna from the north as well as the south and avoid trying to fight through that area all together.

Those TV propagandists posted by Obtuse yesterday were insisting that the new conscripts should be outfitted with the latest equipment and weapons. Steel helmets was specifically mentioned as no good.

So here they are. Steel helmets from WWII and single shot bolt action rifles.

Sending waves of poorly equipped russkies to the front has been a common theme for them thru recent history. Sometimes it works (WWII) sometimes it doesn’t (WWI). We’ll see if it works out for them this time but regardless of what happens by all means let us laugh at how damn incompetent and inefficient the russkies are with the way they do things.
