Interesting video of some Russian range training. My SIL who's a Gunny in the 5th Marines would probably have a stroke if he saw this.

Sergeant has a lot more confidence in himself than I do.

Hey STD, stop projecting your actions on us. I am willing to bet that out of the active posters in this thread you are the only one who did this.

I myself think we should have built a double fence 50 feet tall with a minefield in the middle and electrified it.

For all the talk about winter defeating Germany, the USSR would have been all Germany west of the Urals if not for US and British aide, mostly US. Britain could have held its own against a German invasion as its own war production was more than the German in armaments. The rest of Europe wouldn't have been taken back without the US.

You need to put down the alt news crack pipe, dude.

Key Takeaways

Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv Oblast are collapsing Russia’s northern Donbas axis, and Ukrainian forces will likely recapture Izyum itself in the next 48 hours.

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced the withdrawal of troops from the Balakliya-Izyum line on September 10, and the Russian MoD’s failure to set effective information conditions is collapsing the Russian information space.

The withdrawal announcement and occupation authorities’ failure to organize evacuation measures is further alienating the Russian milblogger and Russian nationalist communities that support the Kremlin’s grandiose vision of capturing the entirety of Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces reached positions within 15–25km of the Russo-Ukrainian border in northeastern Kharkiv Oblast, Izyum’s northern outskirts, and Lyman’s south and southwestern outskirts, and captured the western half of Kupyansk.

3,000+ km recaptured! (allegedly)

But the intention isn't for it to be paid back.

The post I was replying to implied that it was.

It's to produce economic activity. Which is an underrated and ignored aspect of the original lend-lease. That investment paid for itself many times over, within the wartime period as well as after.

Let’s not compare the potential economic activity of Ukraine rebuilding to the benefits the US received from the economic recovery of the majority of the planet rebuilding in the wake of the largest conflict in human history. But your point is taken.

I think he's commenting on the economic windfall the US MIC will reap from replenishing our stocks and selling various armaments to the world.

You are either disingenuous, know something I don't, or don't know what deference or a concession is.

I don't think there was a vote in 2021, or least not one held in public. The statement from NATO was .........

69. We reiterate the decision made at the 2008 Bucharest Summit that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance with the Membership Action Plan (MAP) as an integral part of the process; we reaffirm all elements of that decision, as well as subsequent decisions, including that each partner will be judged on its own merits. We stand firm in our support for Ukraine’s right to decide its own future and foreign policy course free from outside interference. The Annual National Programmes under the NATO-Ukraine Commission (NUC) remain the mechanism by which Ukraine takes forward the reforms pertaining to its aspiration for NATO membership. Ukraine should make full use of all instruments available under the NUC to reach its objective of implementing NATO principles and standards. The success of wide-ranging, sustainable, and irreversible reforms, including combating corruption, promoting an inclusive political process, and decentralisation reform, based on democratic values, respect for human rights, minorities, and the rule of law, will be crucial in laying the groundwork for a prosperous and peaceful Ukraine. Further reforms in the security sector, including the reform of the Security Services of Ukraine, are particularly important. We welcome significant reforms already made by Ukraine and strongly encourage further progress in line with Ukraine’s international obligations and commitments. We will continue to provide practical support to reform in the security and defence sector, including through the Comprehensive Assistance Package. We will also continue to support Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen its resilience against hybrid threats, including through intensifying activities under the NATO-Ukraine Platform on Countering Hybrid Warfare. We welcome the cooperation between NATO and Ukraine with regard to security in the Black Sea region. The Enhanced Opportunities Partner status granted last year provides further impetus to our already ambitious cooperation and will promote greater interoperability, with the option of more joint exercises, training, and enhanced situational awareness. Military cooperation and capacity building initiatives between Allies and Ukraine, including the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade, further reinforce this effort. We highly value Ukraine’s significant contributions to Allied operations, the NATO Response Force, and NATO exercises.

quote:

Not even the Pentagon expected Ukraine’s blitzkrieg to move so quickly.

Top Western defense officials were informed in advance that Ukraine was planning a two-front counteroffensive to retake territory captured by Russia, but they have been surprised by the blistering pace of Kyiv’s gains in the north, according to four officials with knowledge of the discussions.

Ukrainian forces rolled through lightly manned Russian posts around Kharkiv over the weekend, retaking more than 1,000 square miles around the city and pushing east — in some cases all the way up to the Russian border. Russian forces retreated from two key logistical hubs, the towns of Izyum and Kupiansk, as their ranks were depleted by the simultaneous fight in Kherson in the south.

Lithuania petitioned NATO on behalf of Ukraine to have an MAP for Ukraine that would take into account the fact that Ukraine had been invaded by Russia and would actually give Ukraine a date for when it could hopefully join NATO. The measure was rejected with only 2 nations voting for it (I originally said it was unanimous but I was mistaken on that part). After the measure was rejected by NATO, NATO put out that statement about honoring the 2008 decision which also did not result in Ukraine Getting an MAP. So basically the statement you referenced is just diplomatic speak for sorry but you (Ukraine) are not getting in.

Here’s the quote I was referring to.

quote:

Russia's opposition caused consternation among some NATO members. "We are opposed to the entry of Georgia and Ukraine because we think that it is not a good answer to the balance of power within Europe and between Europe and Russia," French Prime Minister François Fillon reportedly said in a radio interview.

Which was in reference to the 2008 Bucharest Conference, in which Ukraine did not receive a MAP. The 2021 Brussels summit reiterated the 2008 decision, with Ukraine not receiving a MAP at that time either, though NATO promised they would eventually get a MAP, which is what your posted statement refers to. That reference by Fillon is the exact concession I’m referring to, unless you think Fillon is referring to something entirely different.

This is from the Wartranslated channel, Supposedly this is a call between a Russian Soldier and his Wife during the Kharkiv offensive. He's wounded and you can tell he is in pain...I hope he's still alive.

There is one but unfortunately there's too much messages on here that have no relation to the war in Ukraine. There is only complaints when someone doesn't go with the democratic talking points

I was mad at Obama letting the Russians annex Crimea. In retrospect Ukraine was not ready for a military conflict. So we gave them some training. Fast forward 8 years and they are doing a damn good job. They would have gotten their arse kicked if we tried to support a war in 2014. frick Russia. They have been actively trying to take down multiple corporations and municipalities and power grids here at home. They are a direct threat to our National security.
