Yeah the plus up for Kherson was at the expense of the defense around Kharkov. The Russians just dont have enough dudes for what they want to do.
Its good to have friends that have the capability to watch the Russians degrade a portion of their line and then tell you what part of the line to drive on.

I am really starting to suspect that the push towards Kherson in the south is not the main offensive. It was simply a strong ruse to get the Russians concerned enough to move troops south and weaken the eastern front for this flanking attack.
That isn't to say that the Ukrainians aren't serious about retaking Kherson, they are; however, the timing of the two offensives seems to be structured this way.

It appears to be fluid which is why the buildup had to occur over time and the whole line. Move toward Kherson in force they pull good units out of the line and then you move on the degraded part of the line. Its a "flexibility" technique that has United States Army written all over it.

In Kherson Oblast, Ukrainian brigades continue to conduct offensive operations. Ukraine has probably destroyed a military pontoon bridge at Darivka, which Russian forces had deployed after the nearby road bridge was severely damaged.
Is this where that twitter video somone posted yesterday is from? Intense shite.

The biggest issue I see with the Russian army is that they are missing several critical components 1) Lack of NCO leadership 2) Lack of SKILLED commissioned leadership 3) Lack of modern logistics 4) Lack of training for their soldiers I'm sure there are more; however, these appear to me to be the fundamental issues they have.
A Russian paratrooper who marched into kherson and then was injured in trench outside of Mykolaiv has published a memoir called Zov that gives a Russian soldier’s view of the problems.
There was a lot of talk earlier in this thread about the unique Russian way of thinking, or national soul, or what have you.
This soldier has something to contribute to that conversation should Lima ever return to this thread:
“Where is the breadth of the Russian soul? Where are our nobility and spirituality? I cannot believe that we have again become enslaved serfs. After all, our ancestors shed so much of their own blood for freedom. Perhaps nothing will change things, but I will not participate in this madness.”

BREAKING: Ukrainian forces have recaptured 700+ square km of territory in south of Ukraine as well as east, where they've advanced up to 50km into Russian lines, retaking 20+ villages, a ????general has revealed in most detailed comments yet on ???? counter-offensive.
The details on the operation - which has been shrouded in official secrecy to prevent Russia from learning potentially-useful information to counter the Ukrainian attack - were given in a briefing by Brigadier General Oleksiy Gromov at a briefing,
@Reuters reported
"During defence operations to recapture lost territory in the Kharkiv direction, since the start of the week, Ukraine's armed forces... have penetrated into enemy's lines by a depth of up to 50 km," the general said. He didn't say which settlements had been recaptured.
"The total amount of territory returned to Ukrainian control in the Kharkiv and Pivdennyi Buh directions stands at over 700 square km [270 square miles]," the general said. Pivdennyi Buh is a river that runs through Mykolaiv city in the south.

Wow. I saw ISW report 400 sq km, but 700 in 3 days is really impressive.

This video is interesting only in watching the Ukrainian foot patrol move through the town. Notice the spacing and the discipline in their formation.
Somebody got some training.
