Here is a factoid. Russia needs 1/3 of its economy back and quickly. Here is another factoid, there will be five each LNG receiving terminals operating in Germany at the end of this year. Then Dutch were forced to crank up its giant gasfield, Groningen, which was supposed to be shutdown to help global warming.
Poland has done just fine without Russia natural gas for months.

If there's one thing that should give OML pause, he should look around at the motley collection of dumb fricks that share his POV, like Winston for example. He’s willing to spend infinite dollars and lives for Taiwan after they’re invaded be zero dollars to prevent it.

I have no idea why anyone is surprised a percentage of people in Eastern Ukraine would be sympathetic to Russia. There are certainly some that have ethnic ties to Russia and some others probably feel like they ended up on the wrong side of the border when the CCCP collapsed for whatever reason. You also have a percentage that are betting on Russia winning and feel they can gain "position" by supporting Russia which is typical of collaborators in invasions.

With that said, the UA and Ukraine government have been talking up a "Kherson counter-offensive" since March. I'll believe it when I actually see it.
That was a different southern offensive and it was launched and was successful. The Ukrainian counter offensive in the south that was launched in late March stopped the Russian advance toward Odessa and forced the Russians to fall back approximately 100 km from Mykolaiv to Kherson. The "Kherson counter offensive" is a new campaign from the one in the spring.
