There is no case in which India will take the initiative. You keep mentioning BRI, but you don't understand it in South Asia. India itself acknowledged that a politically and financially stable Pakistan serves its own interest. Secondly, the reaction to BRI has driven the Indians to develop their own infrastructure plan, which was desperately needed. Thirdly, their rivalry has not limited Chinese investment, and indeed, India has a website dedicated specifically for state-approved investment projects for Chinese firms, and that doesn't include Chinese investment in startups. Indeed, the Indians welcomed the BCIM corridor in 2013 until the BCIM corridor was folded into the BRI project.

You don't understand the geopolitics at all and you just assume these countries have immutable characteristics or something. It would take a politician of extraordinary skill to convince the Indian population at-large of the need to take an initiative with China. What's more likely is Indian and Chinese competition abroad in terms of investments, as India has finally started to fund investments abroad to counteract the Chinese.

It's far more likely that you'll see Pakistani-Indian rapprochement than you will see an open massive war between China and India as part of a larger engagement between the US and China.
