The desire for defensible borders and warm weather ports has fueled a lot if this.

What country is 6000 miles from the Russian border that is in NATO?

Are you seriously white-knighting for foreign aid to nations that harbor terrorists?
But OML doesn't understand anything about Pakistan, despite the political situation being explained to him several times and I know from experience that neither do you.

No, but it does seem like we are one of the few Americans that believe in America First on this thread.

OBL wasn’t hiding out in a cave in Taliban country. He was in a gated compound in Abbotobad. That would be like the U.S. government claiming in 1946 that they have no idea where Hitler is when he’s living in a mansion in Arlington, VA.
Hate the source all you want, but there is no logical defense for foreign aid as anything other than bribes and sources of graft and kickbacks for politicians.

Like I knew you would, you just wrote out diarrhea and thought it meaningful. I've already explain numerous times that there is a massive difference between the Pakistan military and the Pakistani civilian state. It, along with Turkey from whom Indian Muslims in the British Raj took direct inspiration, are the definition of security states, or the so-called 'deep state.'
I don't care so much about the aid issue, but if you treat Pakistani politics as monolithic, you are bound to misunderstand it. Like you just did.

If you believe America first requires isolationism then yours would be an accurate post. I personally don't think isolationism would work for the US in today's (small) world and honestly think it is downright dangerous.
IMO a weaker Russia is a positive for the US and their struggles in Ukraine and the West's willingness to help Ukraine are blunting China's machinations involving Taiwan on a daily basis. Even OML recognizes that is a go to the mat issue. The cost we are paying to give China second thoughts on that endeavor is worth dollars for the pennies we are spending in Ukraine.
You simply can't play checkers in a chess environment.

If you view “aid” as a means of gettIng cooperation from the government of a country, yet the military of said country is in no way included in that, then what does your aid buy you? You’re making my point for me. The ROI for the taxpayer is less than zero.

Isolationism =\= non-interventionism
Geopolitics is not merely a zero sum game. You see only geography, but you forget the most powerful dimension of geopolitics: time.

What is a positive for the US is to show that using military force in the face of other options, of which Russia had so, so many, is always a bad idea. Russia made the decision after the Orange Revolution to blame the West rather than integrate with Europe. The latter choice would have completely obliterated their security issues through integration, but then it would have also obliterated their ability to use O&G as a political tool.
The way forward for the entire world is economic integration. That's the one thing that has proven far more effective than an arms race, war, or other insane geopolitical positioning. Integration isn't easy by any means, but neither is any other option.

Again, you are meaningfully misunderstanding the issues with the Pakistani state, and keep thinking your point amounts to very much. Why do you do this? You continually speak about things of which you have no understanding, and nothing seems to inform you. You told me variously that Russia had aims on Istanbul, that a Russian invasion of Eastern Turkey would cause the Turks to abandon Cyprus, and on and on.
Firstly, the US is the exact entity that empowered the Pakistani military to seek out ways to undermine the Soviets in the 80's. They had a blank check, and their activities in the 70's in Afghanistan dovetailed nicely with US interests. When the Pakistani civilian government openly blamed ISI for several major geopolitical issues, don't you think it would be, by your own words, in the US's interest to support the civilian side of government? Do you think all of Pakistani politics is monolithic? Do you care? Do you just want some easy victory to hang your hat on?
