Lots of history in that town. Go eat at the Francis after your round and get some cold beer and great food. You won't be disappointed.

miserable little town. 50 years behind time. nothing new allowed to be built. the old guard likes it like it is, shitty, Nuke plant and near-by prison, both stink, ugly. People are uppity for some reason. Nasty, nasty, worse I ever stayed at motels. sorry restaurants. Pretty much firms up my option from working the nuke job as a contractor ( who has seen the out-side world)

i think it is a great little place. a handful of good local restaurants. beautiful scenery.
local grocery store. people are really nice.
the motel/hotel scene does suck. the best place to stay is at the bluffs.

St. Francisville is nothing. Not a single excellent restaurant. The Mag is a Cafe for old ladies. The Francis is basically a Walk Ons and the Francis Smokehouse is an embarrassingly bad barbecue restaurant. Their boudin though, is pretty good. The salsa at Que Pasa is pretty damn good though, but that is gratis.

1796 is the restaurant. i haven't been but i have read great reviews for it.

Yeah it never made sense to me either, but there they are nearly isolated from all the other BS we see surrounding them. I’ll take 50 years behind the times and cook at home if it keeps the trash out.
ETA- St Gabriel prides itself on not letting anything being built, has a prison, power plant being demo’d and converted to tank farm, at tip of cancer alley and has Robertos.

better school system, away from the city life traffic, quaint little town, nice people, a few good restaurants - this seems like a great option for people to look at who are in bigger crime ridden cities such as baton rouge.

Checked into the shite hole motel in middle of town for one of my six week outage stays at Riverbend to find a fresh, very fresh, minutes old fresh gob of semen on the chair arm. Threw it into parking lot, stepped over to lobby asked for a fresh chair and two sheets to cover it up with. Sprayed most of a can of disinfect. Tossed the bed cover into the floor where it stayed the entire time. Nasty little town. I got more stories about this nasty town
