A wet spring in Las Vegas has spawned hordes of grasshoppers so large, they're showing up on the weather radar.

In viewing the radar, CNN meteorologist Allison Chinchar said it looked like there were two storms over the Vegas area: one north of the city (that was actual rain) and another right over Las Vegas. But the second one wasn't moving as rain normally would, she said.

"It looked as though it should be torrentially downpouring in Las Vegas,"

That's a bunch of grasshoppers, but it isn't all that uncommon to see signatures of animals on radar these days. Migratory birds often show up. Bats and other bugs are common.
The video is the most impressive part of that. That's just crazy.

They have invasions of "Mormon crickets" in Nevada sometimes. Drove from Reno to Ely one time and they were everywhere. The road was so slick from crushed ones they put out travel advisories, especially for motorcycles. The dead ones were so thick on the road it looked like tobacco juice, and twice as slick. For a hundred mile stretch had to do 30 mph. Didn't have a clue until half way across the state. That was a long boring trip on "America's loneliest highway". Btw, bug juice covered my truck. Thankfully it washed off fairly easily.
