Ever been to the Bird House (it's between Valdez and Anchorage)? It's a bar and 1 half of the floor is a foot and a half higher than the rest.

Yep, it burned down in the late 90's though.

My daughter is just south of Anchorage. She's fine, house was designed to withstand moderate quakes. Lot of stuff off the shelves though.

She's attending UAA, and working in town, but was home when it happened. Pissed that she can't make coffee and bacon with no power,

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was centered just north of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

And Elmendorf is on top of Anchorage.....there will be a shitload of stuff to fix and clean up.

was in anchorage,90's, when like a 7.2 hit i believe north of anchorage. . I was in the air force,Elmendorf , and my bunk mate below me in the bottom bunk thought i was rocking the bed on purpose . Problem was i was on the top bunk thinking he was doing the same Kinda gives you an idea what a big quake feels like though.
Alaska is a crazy place. huge earthquakes. Even had a volcano erupt while i was there . it rained ash for days.

First one I felt was a 6.5 or so centered about 100 miles away; I looked outside and you could see the ground "rolling" like waves on the water.

can't find any anchorage tv stations with a livestream active. My go-to radio station in Talkeetna is running regular programming.

I was just there a couple months ago, you can still see the scars from the wave.
