Kind of interesting stuff honestly. But, at the end of the day, it just comes down to some people being terrified of dogs. You aren’t going to fix that with four hours of training.
They just want to shoot and kill something.

She went from screaming for joy when the nics won to screaming tears when her dog was shot? Talk about highs and lows.

Fancy dog. My mutts could give two shits about sports. I mean, they have literally taken two shits while I was watching football.

The department said when authorities responded to the woman's apartment, they requested she secure her dog who was barking by her side. She closed her door momentarily, but when she re-opened it, the dog charged at an officer, the LAPD claims.
So this was avoidable with a) the woman keeping her dog inside, and b) the cop not immediately shooting (especially when they have non-lethal methods at their disposal).
I hope the bodycam video comes out for this, because it damn well better show that dog "charging" at the officer. Something tells me that's not exactly what happened though, or at least not aggressively, since goldendoodles aren't exactly known for being violent/aggressive.
I wonder if any of the neighbors in the video bitching at the cops are the same ones who called them on her in the first place.
That dog was failed by all the humans around him.

You're looking at it the wrong way though.
Not trying to defend the cops in this situation at all, but a cop has no idea if a dog "wants a hug" or not. So you insinuating that is irrelevant. And honestly, if I'm a cop and a dog is barking at me and I ask the owner to put the dog away, and then it gets out and comes toward me, I may think negatively. However, I assume I can also use my brain and not immediately jump to shooting the dog with my gun. I also am comfortable around dogs/animals and like to think I would be able to tell if the dog was aggressive/angry or not.
For all we know at this point, the dog either viciously charged the officers pissed off, or if walked/ran up to the officers tail-wagging and happy. That's why I'm saying the bodycam footage should show what really happened here.
I did get a chuckle out of the one cop who finally went over to the lady and apologized, assumedly because he knew he was being filmed. Thanks for the apology, man...I'm sure that made her feel a lot better.

It comes down to many cops being told everything is a threat to them and any type of threat can be met with deadly force. When you are afraid of everything then everything is a threat.
