They are good as long as they are in warranty, otherwise if it's for the wife get the Infiniti QX60.

I have a friend that is a certified master RR mechanic. He even says that they are mechanically and electrically pieces of crap. They leak fluids like crazy. They are poorly engineered and the components are substandard.

Every time I see some smug person driving one I automatically know they are a fool.

Buy a Land Cruiser and be done with it. They are bullet proof.

Yes I think so. I had heard they did away with it but my acct. used to always tell me every time I would ask about it that they always wait into the next year to say if it still applies. So I don't know if it's really gone or just in limbo like normal. I haven't bought an applicable vehicle since 2013.

Very easy to lease them...

Even when no one was leasing anything, you could still lease those.

While we are throwing out Anecdotal evidence, my brother in law has had two in the time I've known him. An 07 was totaled at 220k miles, it was rock solid reliable. Zero issues. His second is a 12 that just rolled 100k miles. Never been in the shop for anything outside of regular maintenance.

That article says The House passed the bill, but it still has to get through the Senate and Mr. Obama...

Agreed.

I've still got my hookers and blow on order, though.

I work for CNA National, which is an ext warranty company. They are the highest rated vehicle before being on the "does not qualify" list. This should answer your question...

How does the Porsche Cayenne rate on that list?

65-75k. I've got to take advantage of the IRS tax benefit and depreciation almost makes this a no brainer. Over 4 years the government will effectively reduce my income taxes around 58k. But before I jump on this car I really wanted some feedback on maintenance.

This. I laugh at the poor bastard driving one every time I see one.

Just FYI, you linked the 2014 rules. The house just passed the tax extenders bill which included the 179 provision - to my knowledge not much (if anything) has changed with the amounts involved. All of that being said, I'd consult my accountant before pulling the trigger if I were you. It's not as simple as buying a $70,000+ vehicle and writing the whole thing off. A Range Rover will likely be subject to 179 limits and it has to be substantial business use.

My wife drives a Range Rover, I'm sure the problems are coming but we have been fortunate. They have a reputation for being electrical nightmares but we knew that when we got them. All the research says that most of that stuff has been fixed after 2012. Like I said we haven't had a single problem, it's anecdotal but it's still evidence.

If you like it get it. That's what we did.

Bought my wife the 5.0 L V8 in february. Gas mileage not great and its way more power than I imagined. It will walk off and leave most sports cars. Over 500 hp. It is fun to drive. So far no issues and about to have the 16000 mile service which by the way is only the second required service.
