Crash was in May, why did it take so long.

quote:

Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro's office has filed a vehicular homicide charge against the driver of a speeding Lamborghini that crashed into a floodwall on Tchoupitoulas Street in May, killing a passenger, 23-year-old Kristi Lynn Lirette.

The charge against local real estate broker Jason Adams carries a sentence of five to 30 years upon conviction.

quote:

A prosecutor with Cannizzaro’s office said in May that Adams registered a blood-alcohol level of .11 percent, which is above the legal limit, in a test taken about about three hours after the crash.

Flew too close to the sun.

One less Zima and he could have pulled more tail with a touching story about how he lost his one true love.

Maybe they had to wait on the grand jury to meet to get the indictment?

I honestly don't know if that's right or not. Just a wag.

I predict 4 years at Hunt. Which will be slightly less fun than driving a leased Lamborghini around Nola.

A fatal car crash isn't completed overnight. Usually goes a month or longer, depending on the circumstances.

I know this won't be a popular opinion but I think that to get someone for vehicular homicide, the state should have to prove some sort of causation....that the driver was actually drunk, or speeding recklessly or blew a number that is clearly ridiculous.

Otherwise, it should be a straight DUI. Just because you are above the legal limit doesn't mean that that was the cause of the accident or that it was anything more than an accident.

Here you go:
quote:

Authorities have estimated the Lamborghini Huracan was traveling downriver at 118 mph when Adams hit a curb shortly before midnight, sending the car careening into the floodwall at Felicity Street.

I get that impression too. He looks like he's not sorry at all, he's only sorry his arse got popped with the toxicology report that verified he was drunk when he crashed the Lambo and that girl was killed.

The DA needs to pursue the maximum punishment as well.

Quit driving drunk and you won't have to worry about this.

Oh, and when you respond with "I never drive drunk", well, I won't believe you.
