I'm hesitant to give them the benefit of the doubt when they had the authority to do the right thing while waiting on the Feds.
Sure, that’s perfectly reasonable. I don’t envy Law Enforcement decision makers who have duties to both civilians and their own officers. It’s a tightrope to walk sometimes, but I’m sure they could have been more proactive than they were. There is a benefit though to have an officer resign rather than firing him as I mentioned earlier.

I find it interesting only one officer was suspended for his involvement, as far as I can tell.
I would not be surprised if the other officers were given some type of leniency/clemency for their cooperation against this guy. That’s normally how these things go. Hopefully there was some internal discipline that we are not aware of

Looking at the report. Definitely deserved it and will not be doing stupid shite like that again in the future.

My comment was based upon not know what had occurred before the video rolled.
We know what this guy did before this picture was taken:
was it worse than that?

Without prior context and going solely off of the video, that was fricked up. He put his hands up and they proceeded to beat the shite out of him. Looked like the cops weren't on the same page and they were trying to pull him out of the car on both sides. Unless the guy had just killed someone, there is no way I can see that all of that force was justified.
I will admit, I did laugh when that cop slid across the car and jumped over the door like he was on Mission Impossible or something

Presume there was a settlement, how much?

I never said that, just said that we don't see the events leading up to this in the video. Had this person just killed someone or a bunch of people?
That is completely irrelevant. How can you not grasp that?
Posted on 8/28/19 at 11:55 am to Bedhog
Yeah but did he not ram a unit? Because that could put deadly force on the table.

Thats a beating in your eyes? Holy Dr. Spock. What a privaledged life you led. Your parents just made you do time out in your room with your tv and play station i bet. But by any sane and/or rational person thats fricking nowhere near a beating.

He attempted to ram the officer So it sounds like he was trying to kill the Police officer, with his vehicle, who was just doing his job. I know if someone is trying to kill me i will definitely try to kill them back.

What he did was irrelevant.
Well, that's bullshite.

Even the chief said it was handled wrong.
And that is even more so.
However, I tend to agree that he gave it up almost immediately and basically all of the arse whipping was, at best, adrenaline fueled overreaction. At worst, it is extra-judicial punishment and inconsistent with our notions of police conduct and due process.

I see you're a proponent of cops dishing out justice instead of the court system.
Obviously, I am not in this category. But, to say what [the perp] did was irrelevant and implying what the chief said was dispositive is silly, IMHO.

It was quantified as a beating in the Feds eyes

Well, that's bullshite.
He could have murdered 100 cops and set their wives on fire before the video
Once he puts his hands up and surrenders what he did beforehand is irrelevant

Damn ole girl went in there and mixed it up with the big boys.

hose cops looked PISSED! Wonder what preceded that. Blonde gave no tricks. Dude sliding over hood to get some.

I can’t tell what color the perp is and that matters a lot.

Yes, it is.

Sure. But, what if he'd feigned surrender a couple of times and then fought the cops when they got close?
I'm not saying that happened here, but it wouldn't be irrelevant.

Again, calling bullshite. Everything in the encounter is "relevant" - whether or not it warrants an arse whipping is another thing entirely.
