Just in time for the holidays. 12 employees received pink slips, probably more on the way.

Cant they just do a few more no refusal checkpoints or cash seizures from random people who are probably guilty anyway?

Can't they just charge a fee to companies that want to be the Official ______ of the University of Louisiana?

I mean, they could do that if they were in Monroe, but this is Lafayette.

One thing that parishes could do to save money on law enforcement is to not have city police.. Unless a city has a certain population.. All of these small towns and villages that have its own police chief, 3 or 4 deputies. Eliminate those departments.

Let's say a parish has 5 small towns that have its own police department. They each have a chief of police, 3 or 4 deputies who do not get the same training as sheriff deputies. Why not cut those small town departments and whatever the parish gives each department, give the sheriffs department 75% of what they gave those departments and the sheriffs department can use that money to hire a few more, better trained officers...

That sucks right after Lafayette PD got a 17% raise across the board.

I get sheriff isn’t a city PD but I’m just saying that it’s funny that the parish SO lays off folks and the city PD gets a huge raise
