I think I'm the only one who owns a pair of khakis in the area. I finally broke down to wearing jeans when I got out to dinner. People stare at you when you wear khakis in this town.
What kind of shitty places do you go where no one is dressed up?

You must have been in Lafayette, Indiana.

Lafayette gets a bad rap on here, if you aren't going to Red's or douchebag bars then you will probably not see the kinda folk that are being mentioned in here. They don't live in Lafayette anyway.
Douchbags who slam Lafayette must go where other douchbags hang out.

how the frick do you people come up with this shite?
I wear suits occasionally to dinner in town and very frequently wear sports coats with slacks going out.
This dude must consider a pizza joint a nice restaurant.

Lafayette (as a whole) isn't Buckhead, but it isn't the 1880's border town that the OT usually makes it out to be.
As for the accents, those that grew up in Lafayette proper don't have much of an accent. Growing up in Abbeville, St. Martinville, or one of the other small towns will give you more of a Cajun accent.

Can't stand people wearing shorts and sandals to church.

Vermillionville to Deanos on Bertrand. 4.1 miles. 55 minutes on Friday.
Cajundome to mall on Thursday 45 minutes. 4.8 miles.
Traffic in Lafayette sucks, but in fairness Thursday and Friday issues would have been due to Mardi gras barricades and the trash it brings in
Edit: I think half of Lafayette proper was at Disney world this week to get away from that shite

I agree with this except for the reds part.

True story: I had to accompany a Baton Rouge employee to translate on a Lafayette call because he said the client "spoke to fast and had too much of an accent."

Wait, so you one of them that dont work, shop at Whole Foods, live in River Ranch, drive a range rover to drop kids off at Cathedral, play league partners tennis at reds and belong to the $40k a year bazillionairres club?

I commute 28 miles and it takes 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. No traffic it is 35 minutes.
I'm not aware of the commute in. I guess that would be like Mandeville to NO, or Watson to Downtown BTR. Why do you/did you live so far out?
I meant more of inside the city, but of course my exposure was 4 days while most of it was weekend/holiday.
Example: when I came down (I forget which street), and saw some Cajun dome fair on my left, I immediately started cursing thinking that I'm going to get stuck in some BS fair traffic because my GPS wasn't aware of the fair.
But I didn't get hindered at all, I just coasted down the slow lane.
The Key to that, no jackass tried to go all the way down in the slow lane and then cut in at the last second, to make a left turn into fair parking.(good people, not trash)
In BTR or NO, you know someone would think he's clever by bypassing all the waiting vehicles and cutting in at the end, hindering everybody who just wants to go straight.

Not sure where the mall is, but Cajun Dome(with Fair traffic) to Social Club.....Fri ~6pm, 5 mins, maybe, 6

Problem with those small areas is the language is heavily French influenced and the accent is also.

Well yeah.
The OP stated that there was no traffic. I responded saying that he is incorrect. With Johnson Street down to one lane in each direction due to barricades, it makes the entire traffic in town worse than normal.
