Festival might be pushed back today, downtown streets got 2 foot of water

They just got done $5 million worth of drainage improvements in that exact area too, didn't really help much.

Every time ive been to that festival seems like it was a bunch of homeless looking people for the most part

It’s a pretty decent crowd during the day if the weather is good. We usually do the Saturday with the kids and head home around 7-8. We have full access wristbands plus parking through my wife’s (no pics) work so that makes it more fun and easy. Crowd definitely changes at night and the music is average for the most part. I can only tolerate about a day of it though. Our good friends go for the entire festival which just doesn’t appeal to me at all.

Maybe, Nothing sticks out to me now like the Katrina fiasco, though.

Still dont understand how that became Mayor

She's more effective than Josh, I can say that. A lot of city services are faster. It took me 3 months to get a Public Works crew back in 2022 because they were running bare bones and all of the LCG extra money was going toward those useless ponds and parks. I've also noticed a lot of construction projects are faster and it's not always the same company.

You can call her a "liberal" all you want because of who her mother was and the fact that she's not on KPEL 3 days a week but she's more competant than our last mayor when it comes to city issues.

While I'm happy for them, how the hell can a restaurant open up less than 4 hours after having 2 feet of flood water in it?

By 7am this morning the water had already drained out, that corner where they are located floods pretty regularly, so they're pros at it by now. Push out the majority of it, shop vac, mop, etc. It's not uncommon for them to flood then be open just a few hours later, it sucks but they've been there for a while now so they know the drill. I'd assume they've learned by now to keep product/things up off the ground to reduce loss.

I have nothing but good to say about Monique and think she’s doing a great job. I do have to disagree to some extent on construction projects moving faster. I find permitting in particular has been really tough lately and they are inefficient.

This would have never happened if they left the Mouton statue in place to oversee that corner.

Going to put one of those full body deodorant booths in and charge $10 a spray.
$12 if you don't shave your pits.

Update from Downtown: The water is gone. The tents are all fixed. Festival is ON!

Do not attempt to use the Jefferson st underpass (obviously!) everything else is fine in the downtown area. Local businesses will open at their own discretion.

Possible down pours and thunder storms were predicted. 5-8” of rain was not.
