Take a look at this board.
You can talk all you want about culture and specific demographics, which I do believe suffer from the same issue.
But this board is riddled with lack of empathy for others.

It seems like you’ve made your “response choice” binary…empathize or condemn.
Why not neither? Either choose not to engage with their “content”, or engage with it and make no assessment since they’re not willing to do anything differently. Just take what they’re sharing as random “facts” you can’t really do anything with. Because you can’t.
That’s my dime-store psychology so take it for what you paid for it.

It comes with age and bitterness

I found I do better staying off of FB. The constant sensationalism of media vs real news, stupid people popping up on my page vs just my friends, so much discord in the world and in our country, it can take a toll. When I touch grass and focus on my life vs online, I feel better vs hating people and no empathy. I actually like people and do care. It doesn’t help that I used to volunteer a lot in dog rescue when I had the time and really saw how despicable humans as a species are in general. But the same harm children so why would that care about animals? So, I try to focus on the good of people helping animals and kids vs the evil and asking “God, why”? I keep Instagram solely to look at photos and view things of interest, no rescue or politics, etc. No other social media.

Are you on anti-depressants? Pretty common to lose empathy and emotion. “Empty inside” numbness sets in.

Our Friend Jim = Gemini Jim
This is some kind of social experiment.

Lack of Empathy- What is causing it?
As a straight white dude, maybe calling me every name in the book for the past 20 yrs is one reason.

No one group in the history of America has suffered more than the straight white male

was wondering if watching so many short reel type videos is a factor?
100% is.
It's the reason people will habitually open FB, then Instagram, then Snapchat, then Tigerdroppings etc... every 10 minutes without even thinking about it.
Quick dopamine hits for a fix.
Gotta see that red number on FB to see who's interacting with you. Have to see that number next to your thread/post to see who is paying attention to what you're saying.
It's why TikTok is so successful. Short and to the point content.

Ive come to the realization that all the time I thought I was "paying it forward" I wasnt really doing anything at all.
I think we wrongly assume lots of people actually care or understand when they receive something without merit....its a horrible habit of a Judeo-Christian society.
Ive decided ill reserve my acts of kindness for people that I believe are capable of understanding those acts.

Not just social media. The jab has literally fricked up people's brains. It's all about the Pineal Gland.

If the leader of the free world is not empathetic, why should I be?

Whipping your kids asses when needed, being there to show empathy and church! This creates empathy and emotion and character.
Oh and social media causes also. Take SM away and most of the worlds problems self correct in a month.

whatever part of my brain is in charge of empathy got burnt through in the past 10 years and what little empathy might be left in me, is reserved for my friends and family.
I do blame socials, I'm just tired of being told I'm to pay for healthcare in Africa, arts in South America, the homeless just need free houses, our children are illiterate in Chicago because the teachers only make $85k, if I don't wear a mask I'm literally killing grandma, druggies need free needles, and lastly... that Beyonce is the queen of country music or you are a racist.
frick all y'all
