RUSTON, La. (KNOE) - Students and faculty members at Louisiana Tech University are rallying behind a professor after they say he was wrongfully removed from his courses.

Many took to Twitter last week to express their concerns regarding the removal and show their support for History professor Michael Savage.
In a letter sent from the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, it states allegations of lectures not appropriate in terms of the subject matter presented in Savage’s HIST 102: “World History Since 1500” classes.

According to that letter, student complaints were documented from Savage’s course last quarter and this current winter quarter.

According to students, the topic at hand for the current quarter was a lesson asking students in the class to describe their racial backgrounds as it relates to living in America.

According to that same letter, the Dean said that he heard African American students were “targeted” while “creating a hostile and intimidating environment.”

Any of y’all Tech students/faculty and have any further insight into what’s going on here?

So, he was encouraging class discussion to allow students to provide their opinions and that creates a hostile environment?

College campuses are full of insufferable kids. Mix it with today’s social issues, and this is what happens.

When I was at tech, these students would've been told to stop being pussies

Here’s a longer article on it. Looks like 1400 students petitioned and got him reinstated although there’s restrictions around his current classes.

quote:

Michael Savage, who teaches at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, said the uproar stemmed from one of his history classes where he asked white, black and Asian students what it is like to wake up in America.

quote:

"The reason that my service was being terminated was because I was targeting African American students in the class, making them feel like they have to feel how difficult it is on campus," Savage said he was told.

"And the second reason was in so doing I was creating a hostile environment in the classroom," Savage said, describing the email.

He said the message meant he would immediately lose two of his three history classes and the third one at the end of the winter quarter.

However, a few days later, school officials told Savage he would be reinstated, with restrictions, after an online petition attracted about 1,400 signatures from students.

Can you imagine going through life constantly trying to find ways to make yourself a victim? It's got to be miserable.

I agree, but the bigger problem here is the parent complained and got him fired. The administration fired him without even doing an investigation and took the parent's side

I know a girl who is about 30, had a lot of opportunities at a great life. She had a marriage to a dude who was a hard worker and etc. She lived in the center of portland, had money and security.

Anyways, she was one to ruin things in her life so she could complain and get sympathy for being a victim. My girlfriend told me how she told her, that when she was working as a sex worker in Guam..she was raped. All I could think was, "well no fricking shite..does she expect something different to happen?".

She ruined her marriage btw, with infidelity and gender confusion. Shaved her head, started calling herself "they" and all that pronoun shite that got trendy. Felt bad for the dude, everytime I see him now I feel obligated to buy him a beer out of compassion.

This shite of people losing their job just to make a group of people feel better needs to stop. I am 100% serious. It is out of hand. And the bad thing about it is.. In these situations the person who loses their job had no intentions to "offend" or target anyone.

My history teacher in college just bitched about George W Bush the whole first week. And asked us about the death penalty individually in front of everyone. Yeah I dropped that course quick

Myself and the liberal philosophy professor got into it almost every class. He would get going on a liberal rant about whoever or whatever and I would raise my hand and disagree and get him going. I got a C in his class but learned alot about libatards.

When I was at tech history 101 and 102 were 2 of my favorite classes.

I got notes (5years old) from another student instead of trying to take notes while the teacher lectured. These notes were word for word with his lectures. I didn’t have to take notes which was a relief.

He you could get him off subject and talking about the boats or his ex wife then that class you didn’t hear anymore lecture

Tech had and I’m sure still has some quirky teachers.

Professors do things like that to present themselves an opportunity to demonstrate how much more intelligent they are than those they are questioning. It works on young people because they don’t have enough life experience to see through their bullshite. It’s why college campuses are the perfect place for liberal indoctrination.

I took him about a year or so ago, he was one of the better professors I had. Instead of just having a memorization class he made you think critically into the reasons and or the forces behind the events in history. He was a good professor that cared about your success, ended that class with a 92. From what I understand the school decided not to let him go.

According to what I just read, I'm guessing some black students are playing the victim card again.
