In the last six months there have been 2 sheriffs deputies, 1 decorated state trooper, 1 principal and a preacher arrested for child porn. How many more of these are out there and how hard is it to work ip addys to find and prosecute this scum?

And a Boy Scout leader.
On the IP address thing, it depends how smart the perp is when it comes to covering their tracks and secure browsing. If they get all of their material via virtual machines, Tor, and employ secure VPN's, it can be very difficult to trace. You don't necessarily have to trace them all though. Catch one and make them roll on others like in the Perkins case.

How many speeding tickets do you need to dish out to become a decorated state trooper.

These are the only ones being reported. There are thousands of them out there. Child/human trafficking is real, ans we need to do something about it.

Oh I’m fine with burning at a stake.
Uncle had one that was in his deer camp for years. It finally caught up to the guy after 20+ years and floored everyone who grew up with him. I believe it’s more prevalent than most people would believe.

There are state troopers dedicated to other duties. They are actually a functioning police unit whose duties may including investigating drug, and, ironically, child pornography/sex trafficking.

NO, no they're not. There are some good ones, sure. But as a whole, its a nepotistic culture rank with cronyism. Edmonson helped expose it (unknowingly) with his bold and lavish living on state tax payers dime. The whole thing is a racket.

90% of LSP rep is a facade. I remember when the NOPD went on strike years back, the year they cancelled Mardi Gras, and I later talked to a guy who was a Trooper from some rural central LA parish. The Governor sent the Troopers in to patrol NOLA. He said the first time they rolled to the projects two car loads of them went and they took shotguns because they were scared as hell. He said the ghetto folk were all “damn them boys mean business - they bad arse.” And they had no issues but it was all based on a lie.

After work one day Imwas watching the news and bam.....there was a photo of our CCTV guy from work. The storyline was that he was a Boy Scout troop leader and he had molested some young boys. He was married, had two young girls, yet there he was. None of us a work could believe that he was a child molester for years.
Ten years later, while in prison, he agreed to do an interview with one of the local tv stations. He said that even after the arrest, prison time, etc., he could not stop thinking about molesting kids. He said it consumed him all day every day. He said the best thing was to kill him. He also said no amount of therapy would help a child molester because they would go back to doing it as soon as they would be released from prison.
Damn......

You say no then describe most functioning police units, particularly small town/rural police and/or sheriff departments when you say

Well, that's what you get with political appointees at the top.

The whole thing is a racket.
A lot of it is, not all of it. There is a small section of the LASP that are not glorified traffic cops, who generally do a good job, provided they don't succumb to the lore of easy money that often appears to be there for the taking (until you get caught).
I've known a few state police officers. One was an absolute criminal(got busted taking seized drugs), the other two were a couple of the finest guys I've ever known.
