This is just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. One of many reasons Louisiana is circling the drain, never to come back.

We'd have more revenue from river traffic if these greedy shitlickers had long ago charged a decent rate. Now Alabama (Mobile), Georgia (Savannah) and Texas (Houston) only continue to solidify their hold as top destination healthy red states as Louisiana continues to sink into the muck.

But hey, we expanded Medicare and the river boat traffic is top notch quality nepotism.

Nothing screams Louisiana like River Boat Pilots claiming that the current system promotes a meritocracy and capitalism .

The only way you will ever get in that smoke filled room is if your dad was in it before you.

I know 3 going without a dad or relative in.

Sons following in their fathers footsteps... whodda thunk that would happen in business?

The concern seems to be that the minority applicants would get stuck at the lower level license slots... while the white/connected applicants would move faster through the ranks.

True, but they won’t be stuck by themselves. Whit unconnected applicants will be right there with them.

We all know what’s going on. A clique runs it all. Few can crack the clique.

opening it up for others would drive the price down and would likely increase quality as well.

Absolutely, which is why they absolutely do not want

I dont blame them. I wouldn't want my gravy train derailed. Im flat out jealous of what they have and would love to be one myself, so I could be on the other side of the fence telling you poors that the only way you can navigate that river is to have the right last name.

Vessel navigation

Mobile - 24 miles
Savannah - 25 miles
Houston - 18 miles
New Orleans - 100 miles
Baton Rouge - 230 miles

You guys think there might be a reason it costs more to come up the MS River?

He didn't know what port/starboard, bow/stern, or what draft/free board was before he got married..

Now he's making bank...
