Article says the friend of the guy saved herself by hiding in the bathroom.

She didn't have a Butters with her, so she used the dude as a substitute. Bitches will trifle every damn time.

It is great. That was just an unlucky guy. I've never seen swarms of bees on any of my hikes. And I've been hiking in AZ for 10 years now. Seen rattlesnakes, coyotes, and herds of mean javelinas, but never swarms of bees.

Been hearing about killer bees since My Girl

Before that, there were several TV movies that scared the crap out of me and many other kids in the 70s/80s. Killer bees and nuclear war were my top 2 fears.

It was probably a case of "I don't have to out-run the Bees.I just have to out-run you".

Terrible way to go.

Seriously though, is it that hard to run away from bees? Will they chase a person very far?

Recall, whatshisface in My Girl was attacked twice. The first time he escaped simply by running away and jumping into a lake. The second time he died Bc he decided to stand still and try to swat them.

It actually happens a few times a year in Phoenix. Mostly on Camelback mountain. Some of the trails you do more climbing than hiking. You get caught in a bad spot and you're fricked.

Had a friend that went fishing with his uncle and nearly died. He was stung around 100 times mostly in the head an neck area. His uncle brought the boat in to a tree top too fast and disturbed a massive wasp nest.

Actually I am pretty sure I remember him saying that they had to re-start his heart a couple of times.

According to him he was not allergic to them before but the doctor told him afterwards that from now on a single sting would be life theatening. Doctor supposedly said that somehow that many stings destroyed his bodies ability to deal with them in the future.

I have no idea if the docs claim is legit...but thats the way he told it to me.

I mean, I knew they could kill if the victim was allergic. But I didn't know they could swarm and kill. If only heard about them killing dogs like this.

Terrible way to go.

Killed by a bunch of fricking bees.
1000 stings will usually do it. A body just can't take that type of trauma.

ETA: Looks like 1000 is pretty dangerous, but many people can survive it.
