Did anyone know this guy? What a horrible way to die.

A swarm of furious Arizona bees killed a vacationing hiker, stinging the Louisiana man more than 1,000 times along a Phoenix-area trail.

Alex Bestler, 23, was hiking through Usery Mountain Regional Park with a friend Thursday morning when a cloud of thorny insects descended on them, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The pair did not provoke the bees, which began attacking without any warning.

SJW bees fight the cause because of their names being used in the spelling bee without their consent.

Bees, wasps, and hornets kill more people in the US each year than any other type of animal.

Except other people, of course.

I mean, I knew they could kill if the victim was allergic. But I didn't know they could swarm and kill. If only heard about them killing dogs like this.

Terrible way to go.

Killed by a bunch of fricking bees.

Sounds like it. I'm pretty sure they've found hives of them in Arizona.

ETA: For those that don't know what they are/how they kill, here's a little article about them: Killer Bees

They probably crossed the Mexican border with no resistance.

It's fairly safe to assume that all bees in AZ are Africanized

Not a good time for hiking in AZ

First the sicarios in Pinal county...now bees.

Seriously though....there are parts of AZ where the sheriffs have stated to only go hiking there if you are armed because of cartel assassins having gun fights there in the past.

You've got an edge with the bees. If you see them swarm on one of your hikes, you can always pitch Butters into the middle of the hive and run while they're distracted.

How come the guy didn't follow his friend's lead and haul arse into the trailhead bathroom? That means they weren't even that far into the trail.

Article says the friend of the guy saved herself by hiding in the bathroom.
