They stood up to Shirley Mae Taylor in 79 over accepting minorities and quit parading, which was no great loss. Probably the cheapest parade on the streets along with Momus. many members are in Rex as well.

A good friend of mine rides in Rex. He is a baw, not a blue blood.
From what he told me, his great grandfather was a somewhat prominent citizen around the late 1800's and he was asked to join Rex. Since then, every male from every generation has been in Rex. His grandfather, father, uncles, cousins, etc. His brother is a member of Rex, but does not ride on Mardi Gras day.

They won't let you in. No chance. Forget about it. You've already posted on here. Their little secret police already knows who you are and you've been blackballed before you ever had a chance.
I suggest you try to join Orpheus or something.

I thought they quit "parading" when NOLA city council did this
quote:
In 1991 the New Orleans City Council, led by Democrat Dorothy Mae Taylor, passed an ordinance that required social organizations, including Mardi Gras Krewes, to certify publicly that they did not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, disability, or sexual orientation, in order to obtain parade permits and other public licensure.[1][2] The Comus organization (along with Momus and Proteus, other 19th-century Krewes) withdrew from parading, rather than racially integrating (Proteus returned to parading in 2000). Two federal courts later decided that the ordinance was an unconstitutional infringement on First Amendment rights of free association and an unwarranted intrusion into the privacy of the groups subject to the ordinance.[21] The Krewe of Comus never resumed its parading.

Odd, blue blood relates to Prussian inbreeding with the English line.
Seems with Louisiana being the only French state they would want red blood?

Close...but not quite.
Comus told DOROTHY Mae Taylor to kiss their arse and stopped parading in 1991.
You may be thinking of the NOPD strike in 1979, but that had nothing to do with minorities except that the NOPD Union told the minority mayor to go frick himself.

If I were to be invited to join, I would disappointed that they were desperate enough to have a public school, commuter college, middle-class nobody in their ranks, and would have to decline.

The question is would a Comus member qualify for Tigerdroppings Platinum membership?
I think it would have to be handled on a case by case basis.

You’ve got to be able to trace your blood line a lot further back than Comus requires for TD-P.
Rex might bow to Comus, but Comus bows to chicken.

Then you might actually get to have fun rather than sit in a room with other boring arse people while little boys in dresses and wigs prance around.

Too bad, the others have better food and better parties.
Sorta like toffee nosed Brits thinking they are the bomb but the Scots and Irish are older and way more fun at a party. My ancestors scared the Romans, what Brit can claim that.

So what is the pecking order of the krewes?
