Taking my 5 yr old tonight. We took him last year and it was pretty entertaining.
A lot of fun costumes...he even got a signed light saber from Andy Richter which was a random celebrity sighting.
I'm seeing start times of 6, 7 and 8pm...not sure what the exact time it starts

A mostly walking parade in the Marigny which has a couple thousand members in all sorts of costumes. There are a few carts and other homemade floats. Even if you aren't a sci fi nut it's entertaining.
The actor who plays Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew, is the annual guest rider. At 7'2" and 71 yrs old He's getting up there in age!
The parade is made up of dozens and dozens of smaller groups who costume and parade in costumes from obviously Star Wars, but include any other scifi movie or tv show you can think of

Their website LINK says it starts at 7. Sounds like a fun parade for kids and Star Wars geeks (or geeky fans of other genre, as it seems to mix in references to Star Trek, etc).

It's Fun parade for everyone. I know they had boot a robotic Dragon that would spit fire. I don't know if they were allowed to roll it last year or not.
Either way, if I were still in Nola, I'd be there, and probably drumming in it.
