Absolutely. For a lack of better terms, it’s PT on steroids while you’re asleep.

This is not remotely true, and terrible advice.

I'm a PT. And having 0 extension and 90 flexion is the goal for day 3 after surgery.

Maybe what you went through was different from the normal. But what you responded to my statement is false. The goal for immediate post surgical TKA range of motion by the end of day 3 is 0 extension (which is full extension) and 90 flexion. Now, those numbers don't always happen, but be assured, that is the goal for every patient.

I think I'll do mine in November for the holidays. I have a million questions. When will I be able to get upstairs (my shower and bed is on the second floor)? When will I be able to drive my stick shift? When will I be able to walk my dog (dog walkers are expensive)? When will I be able to stand in the kitchen in cook or should I prepare a crapload of frozen meals? I guess everyone is different but I just want to walk around in Europe and not be in pain.

My therapist suggested speaking with my orthopedic on Tuesday about putting me to sleep and bending my knee and forcefully breaking up the scar tissue. Anyone ever had this done? Thoughts?

My mom is 78 and had the same issues as you. She was put back to sleep to break up that tissue, but that didn’t help. After some time, she had to have a second surgery to replace the first new knee with a second one. She still limps around, but not as bad.

Talking to other doctors, the doctor who did the first surgery is really bad. If she had a more competent surgeon, I don’t think any of this would be an issue.

My dad had both of his replaced a year apart and my mom had he left knee replaced last fall.

their doctor told them that were they were with respect to mobility at the 6 month point is were they would permanently end up.

both my parents had the "machine" machine at home that moved their leg out an in to constantly move the joint. dad only did that and his physical therapy appointments and didn't get full mobility

mom was the person you cant stop from moving so she was over doing things almost immediately, but she gained back most of her range of motion.

Did any of you experience your knee “clicking” as you walked for a while? My brother had his done about two months ago and his knee clicks when he brings his leg forward. PT has told him it should quit as the quad gets stronger, but it’s been doing it a few weeks.

Mine clicked when I first had the surgery. All good and quiet now. I’m at 15 months post op.

Yes, I'm 5 months out and it still happens. Paperwork they gave me said that could be a forever thing on and off.
