UPDATES added to include photos we just took. Water has NEVER been this high in Kingwood, even in 1994 when it was considered mass devastation.

Once open, click on the video settings and set to 1440p resolution you can use full screen to see it in crisp HD.
This is the brand-new HEB shopping center with Cane's, Whataburger, Potbelly, Torchy's, MOD Pizza, Subzero Ice Cream, etc.
DAYUM.

I grew up in the neighborhood behind those woods. Crazy to see this. It's worse than '94.

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong...but looks like the property was designed properly? Parking lots have a foot or so of water in them, businesses are okay...

It was designed properly. It is less than a year old and the drainage plan that went into it was HUGE. One of the things they touted about it was that it was safe from severe flooding.

Weather Channel just said they had to "create a new color" within their rainfall schematics to account the the level of rain Houston is getting.
Houston Mayor: "Kingwood will be our focal point for today". Sheeeyit. My son's middle school has been turned into a Red Cross shelter. shite getting real for me.

That's where I lived for a few months after Katrina. It was a crappy apartment complex back then, but there were vacancies and Kingwood had good schools for the kids.
They must have built it right since only the parking lot looks flooded.

Yes, the bulldozed that complex to make way for that new center.

It's sad that people require graphics like this and just seeing the inches of rainfall can't make the connection for them
