King Cake - Baby Jinx

True Story: I usually get a king cake or two around Mardi Gras for our office. About 4 years ago, one coworker gets the baby and doesn't know anything about the tradition, so he tosses it in the trash. We find all this out later when quizzing everyone about who had found it, and he owns up to it.
He has bad luck since then, and has gotten the baby 3 more times, including this year. He doesn't throw them away now just keeps them in his desk drawer at work. We keep telling him he has bad juju, needs to buy the next king cake, etc. and he dismisses us and just doesn't care.
Help me convince him....I'm worried about my friend if he continues down this road.....

I had a slew of non-Louisiana friends at LSU.
My mom gave me a big king cake to bring back to the dorm to share. I explain the baby tradition and we cut the cake. Didn't hit the baby.
Next day, I come back from class and all that is left is a quarter-inch sliver with the baby's arse sticking out of it.

We are located in Texas so very few understand what it's all about. I usually go easy on them and bring it in myself since they would probably run to Krogers and bring in a crappy one.

Sounds like he found a sucker to keep bringing him king cakes. Who has the bad luck here?
