RIP your Majesty. It was an honor to be able to live in Thailand and see how well respected and revered he was.

when did you live there? I was there from 96-99 in Bangkok as a teenager, good times
I never met or saw him but I went to the palace a couple times, folks there really loved him

I was there from 2005-2008. We were able to see the celebration for his 80th birthday. It was something I will never forget.

I was in the Army assigned to a US Medical Research Facility in Bangkok. I worked near Victory Monument.

cool, we moved over there for my dads work, oilfield when i was 13 and left when i was 16

I knew quit a bit of Oilfield guys. I thought it was pretty neat that so many people from so many different countries lived there. I had Germans, French, British, Aussie and Kiwis in my apartment building.
My wife and I had a Cinco de Mayo party in our apartment one year. An upstairs neighbor, who is originally from Sri Lanka, was at the party. He went in the kitchen, saw our Community Coffee on the counter and came out asking how we knew about it. I looked at him funny, asked him how he knew about it and told him I'm originally from Louisiana. He said he did his PhD at LSU. He worked for Pepsi in BKK. And I could get Community shipped to our APO. So from then on we exchanged Pepsi products for bricks of coffee.

yeah it is very diverse, my best friends there were from Israel, Japan, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Australia. There were quite a few americans as well.
It was crazy how many people either from Louisiana or had connections to LA, still randomly run into people I knew there at LSU tailgates
