Any of you remember this, there's a documentary on Amazon about this guy.

He smashed his rivals concrete business and several others who had wronged him :)

Marvin John Heemeyer (October 28, 1951 – June 4, 2004) was an American welder and an automobile muffler repair shop owner who demolished numerous buildings with a modified bulldozer in Granby, Colorado on June 4, 2004.
Heemeyer had feuded with Granby town officials, particularly over fines for violating city health ordinances when he chose to dump sewage from his business instead of installing a proper septic tank. His feud came to a head on June 4, 2004. Over about eighteen months Heemeyer had secretly modified a Komatsu D355A bulldozer by adding layers of steel and concrete, intended to serve as armor.[1] He used this to demolish the Granby town hall, the former mayor's house, and several other buildings.[1] Heemeyer's rampage concluded with his suicide, after his bulldozer became trapped in the basement of a hardware store he had been in the process of destroying.

Tread

Watched this the other night. Absolutely wild documentary that I highly recommend.

I remember watching it unfold on the news, but never really got the full story on his reasoning behind it. Some part of me thinks he was certainly justified for snapping, but he also came off as one of those people who just thinks everyone is out to get him, no matter what.

Either way, crazy story.

After watching Tread it seems like he had a break from reality or the entire town is lying.

I watched Tread last night. It was good but I don't think it was unbiased. All of those on the other side of the blade acted like they couldn't have done anything wrong.

Hero? I think he was mentally disturbed possibly paranoid schizophrenic who could have probably done much worse things.

I recall a lot of statements he himself or his friends made were pretty damning as far as who was in the wrong. I remember one of the last things being that he was offered some relatively huge amount for the property above and beyond any expenses and still turned down the offer because he seemed to want to be wronged and pissed off.

I thought that until I watched the documentary. He was a delusional moron.

The guy ran a successful business and had meaningful relationships and there was no mention of any mental illness until the feud over the property issues. Seems odd it developed so rapidly at the end of his life.

That is NOT what happened. Heemeyer was completely fricked over by the town government and the company that were trying to take his land.

But he brought property that he should have known didn't have direct sewage access, right?

The company trying to develop the property against his will and with permission from the city govt. damaged the septic tank and he was blamed for it. What they cited him for was a complete fabrication. I think that's the main thing that set him off.

I just don't think you do all of that calculated and very labor intensive shite unless you have been truly wronged. During one of the past threads on this, I read as much as I could and even listened to the guy's taped manifesto he made before lowering the shell onto the bulldozer. He got screwed.
