The fact that states still fight against retrofitting school busses with seatbelts due to cost is insane to me.

I’ve always thought it was backwards that if you’re not wearing a seatbelt you’ll get pulled over and get a ticket, but we can cram 40 kids in a school bus and not have a belt on them at all.

What's also alarming is the time it took for the kids to finally get the roof hatch open. It would have been tragic had there been a fire

FYI everybody none of the injuries (only 8 of 25 were hospitalized) were life threatening.

School buses are incredibly safe. Also trusting little kids to belt properly isnt going to work

so they are safer. Where people sit, the weight everything, they are much safer than passenger car or smaller bus. They require seat belts on the smaller school buses
