A 15-year-old Vermilion Township boy is dead after performing an experiment he saw on YouTube, police said.
The Jacob’s Ladder experiment is done by connecting a 12,000 volt power source to two cooper wires to create an electrical arc.
Morgan's mother said she came outside because she smelled something. After finding her her son on the ground in the garage, she called 911.

So my question is, say I post a "science experiment" that's just a magic trick, and people try to replicate the science and end up killing themselves......am I at fault?
"sit in a bathtub with a piece of coal in your hands, and then drop a plugged in hairdryer into the water. The electricity will go through you and be focused into the coal making a diamond instantly! Watch... buzzz,buzz,buzzz...see diamond!"

You realize Jacobs ladder is not a magic trick right?

How did this kid have access to 12,000 volts? And if he had access, how did he live this long?

Youtube was the culprit. It needs to be stopped. We need to monitor what's being put out to our kids," added the grandfather. "There's no going back. This can enlighten other parents too."
Anything goes except personal accountability for playing with 12000 V like its a damn game. I mean really gramps?

The power sources kids are using these days are way stronger than when we were growing up. Some college kid offered me some power at a concert a few weeks ago and I took it thinking it would be like the stuff I used back in the 70s. Damn near put me in the hospital

I'm not an holiday inn electrical rocket surgeon but something tells me he didn't research amps before conducting this experiment.

you can scavenge high voltage transformers out of old microwaves. apparently that's how the DIY dorks build tesla coils in their backyards.

Well, there is one idiot out there that has a video up where he makes one of those bucket air conditioners (the kind you fill with ice) and uses dry ice.
Because CO2 in an enclosed space is just awesome.

The failure of his experiment came as quite the shock.
