So you rented out one of your properties in which you do not reside without a contract? Was this a month-to-month? What was the mutual understanding for duration of stay? If you’re story is true, you didn’t rent anything out, you just let a friend stay there and can kick him out whenever you want so what’s the issue here?

If he's been staying with you awhile , you have to give him 30 days to find a new place then you can kick him out.

Yep.
There's a LOT more to the story, but he knew well ahead of time that if he didn't have the money he was going to be kicked out. I had even warned him when he left his job not to leave a job until you have an actual agreement on another job already lined up and that I wouldn't float him for more than a week after bills were due.
He didn't listen, he didn't have the money, so he didn't have a place to live. I think he spent the night under a bridge until someone from his family came and got him.
