Benadryl knocks me out. Don't like taking it because I'm too groggy in the mornings. I haven't tried the breathe right strips yet I always assumed they didn't work but I guess it couldn't hurt to try them.

you can thank big pharma for that

With Afrin the more you use it the worse it gets. I don't use it too often but when I do it's just once a day before bedtime and just one drop in each nostril.
For as bad as you have it I'd stop using the Afrin right away and start using some saline rinse each day till it clears up.
Saline Rinse + Allegra is how I roll.

My dad was addicted to nasal spray. It's common.

I was addicted to it too. Going cold turkey for a few days is the only way to get over it. Also you might want to see an ENT because there is prolly an underlying condition that needs to be fixed.

I dealt with the nasal spray addiction last year. You really have to go cold turkey. There is simply no easy way to get off it. Breathe right strips and sudafed may help a tiny, tiny bit. Nothing else does. Steroid shots don't help and trying to wean by diluting with saline doesn't either.
As long as you keep introducing the drug, you'll keep getting the rebound congestion.
After about 2-3 days, one nostril should get a little better and 5-7 days for both. Then you'll wonder why you didn't just quit cold turkey earlier...but you'll feel amazing you beat it and be proud of yourself.
It's a serious problem and it's hard to get off. The first couple nights is almost like a smoker quitting nicotine because relief is so readily available at every corner drug store and your just going on willpower.
Seriously...just 2-3 days and maybe not even that long. All you need is just to get to the point where you can breathe a little bit in one nostril and it's all downhill from there.

The strips can be surprisingly effective. My antihistamine nemesis is Zyrtec. That shite makes me dopey for 24 hours, and not in a good way. Allegra is best for me. Your other long-acting, (nominally) non-drowsy benadryl alternative would be Claritin. All these are available as generics for much cheaper than the brand names.

Why would they ban it when all it is is salt?

The shite with Vicks is addicting

Nasal spray is not addictive. Your body builds up a resistance to it and it becomes less and less effective, but the spray itself is not addictive. Same net effect I guess. Just quit using it for a week or so and your body will readjust.
It's called rebound effect, it might as well be called an addiction though.

This guy gets it. Some say that your nasal mucosa can get addicted to Afrin in as little as 2 doses. Then, you have to deal with rebound congestion over and over again.
Best to use Afrin only once or twice (max)as a breakthrough med for the most severe sinus congestion. This is what I have done. No issues to this day.

It's like people who get "addicted" to lip balm. You're not addicted, but if you don't use it your lips will be fricked for a week. Deal with it.
You ever suck dick for Afrin?

And water, which may possibly have brain-eating amoebas?
That's the only problem I could see with a nasal rinse.

I used to suck dick for coke. You ever suck some dick for nasal spray? Didn't think so. Dumbass.

That will be an embarrassing rehab admission.

Rebound congestion is an actual thing BTW.
