Honda has gone to shite recently

quote:

Kia ranks highest in initial quality with a score of 83 PP100, the first time in 27 years that a non-premium brand has topped the rankings. It is also the second consecutive year that Kia, which ranked second in 2015, has led all non-premium makes in initial quality.

U.S. Domestic Automakers Show Strong Improvement: For just the second time in the 30-year history of the study, U.S. domestic brands collectively have lower problem levels than all their import counterparts combined. All three U.S. domestic automakers post year-over-year quality improvements. The “Detroit Three” achieve a combined average of 103 PP100, improving 10% from 2015, which is double the improvement rate of the import brands at 106 PP100. The last time U.S. domestic brands outpaced imports was in 2010, when they held a 1 PP100 advantage (108 PP100 vs. 109 PP100, respectively).

I'd continue to choose to live with a Honda or a Toyota product for multiple years rather than a month with a Kia.

Weird seeing Kia and Hyundai so high. Mazda being so low is kinda weird too. I thought the 3 and the 6 got great reviews?

Initial quality is not really that great of a metric.

Ours is okay. Paint job sucks and there's way too much interior noise. Probably wouldn't get another.

This is what Toyota and Honda are counting on.

My 14 year old nissan suv is at 180k. I have put 8k miles on it since June 1st.

I'd still take it over a new kia, hell anything unless toyota brings a diesel suv to the US.

I don't care what they are counting on, I've bought three new Accords over the past seven years (still running them all) and none of them have seen a mechanical problem.

Mrs. Fut has put a quarter of a million miles on a Lexus product over the past decade with only a bad evaporator core to show for it.

I've got two Hondas both over 100k miles, never had much trouble. Not sure if the quality has slipped at all one the new ones

No shite huh. So they're basically guessing which vehicles are of a higher quality? I would rather see a survey based on 2006 models.

Hyundai & Kia (I worked for them, remember) always pushed hard for this. My wife is leasing a Sorento (lease is only way to go on Kia/Hyundai as they depreciate like a rock!), no problems so far. But in 6-10 years will it still be a dependable and vehicle I know will be reliable, absolutely not. These Toyotas are cheap to fix, maintainence, and hold their value like crazy!

Love my wife's Sorento. We had one minor issue, but it's a solid vehicle - comfortable, roomy, QUIET, plenty of power and about $10K less than a Toyota.

I can't believe how low Honda has sunk.

It seems to have gotten to the point where almost all major car manufacturers are making cars that will last forever. Ford and other domestic cars have been getting shite on since the 90s but most of that has been perception more than reality for the last ten years ago. I had to rent a car awhile back. Got a Ford Fusion and it was a fantastic car.

I wish they would issue a correction giving Volkswagen a lower score.

83 problems per 100 vehicles?

17% non-lemons?
