It's bashing Catholicism to question that a preacher "needs" a $6+ million jet plus another $19.5 million for maintenance and upgrades?

I'm an agnostic, so IDGAF if he's a charlatan. Hell, I've got a close family member who has given north of $2 million to Jimmy Swaggart over the past decade.

My only problem with Copeland, Swaggart, et al. is that they prey on the poorest, hardest working folks out there.

My family can afford the money they've given (yeah, I know, subtle brag), but those TV megachurch operations are largely financed by people in the lowest socioeconomic group. I find that fact to be infuriating--especially when the benefactor posts pictures of his new Gulfstream.

Can you imagine how much poverty, disease, and malnutrition could've been alleviated if half the dollars ever paid to Copeland and Swaggart were spent in actual aide to those in need?

For his part, Swaggart doesn't even pretend to have a charitable outreach anymore--no orphanages in Kenya or whatever. Their church does precisely diddly/squat in tangible ministry. All the millions of dollars that come in are plowed back into broadcasting even more forms of media--so more people will see it and send more money.
