Keep your head on a swivel now applies to everything outside of football.

For those who haven’t played football, the term means to continuously check the immediate field around you or you would get absolutely blown the frick up on a hit.
It now applies to every day life:
Pumping gas? Keep your head on a swivel or get your brains bashed in with a pipe.
Walking down the street? Put your phone away and be conscious of your surroundings.
Taking a shite in a public bathroom..

Situational awareness has always been a part of life. From being polite in crowded areas to identifying and reacting to potential danger. It is hardwired into humans and every other animal's brain. Some are better than others and some make it a priority to process on a higher brain level.
