It really just needs to be staple foods. Sodas, candies, cakes, etc are luxuries. On top of that, let them learn to fix a meal and extend their money.

Birth control for sure ! I think the women and men(if possible) should be punished if they get pregnant while on welfare . It's a joke to reward them with more food stamp/ welfare if they have another kid. Hell, why not get pregnant since it cost nothing

families receiving government assistance will no longer be able to use those funds to visit swimming pools, see movies, go gambling or get tattoos on the state’s dime.

Can we extend this to anyone on Obama Care?

I can argue that people need a chance to swim for their health.

I'm sure Kansas has plenty of public lakes. Those are usually free.

Maybe they just don't want to swim with them anymore

Standing in the shallow end, being too loud, and splashing too much is not the same as swimming.

But it isn't an unlimited amount of cash. Once they spend it, it is gone. We shouldn't care how they blow the money.

Except that limiting them to only necessities may just encourage these lazy fricks who abuse the system to go out and better themselves so they may stand without everyone else working their dicks off to support them.

Yes only beans, rice, oil, eggs flour etc.

Nothing that is already made. It is much cheaper to make it that way. And they have plenty of time to cook...

Swimming is a survival skill sir.

So is earning enough money to support yourself, therefore not being subjected to rules and restrictions on the use of money given to you.

The same people who complain about welfare love claiming their child tax credit. A credit on taxes!? You should pay more! At least THAT is temporary.

They should have to do SOMETHING in order to get the money. We could require that they pick up trash, clean government buildings, work at local parks etc. Make them spend 10 hours a week looking for a job, 10 hours learning a skill and 20 hours working. Also, the food they get would be delivered to them at work once a week in a package and it would be just things like rice, beans and government cheese. They could take possession of it each week after they pass their weekly drug and alcohol tes

If they spent 10 hours looking for a job they would have one.

When my son turned 16 he needed a job to pay for his truck insurance and gas money. He had no experience, he had never had a job. He applied to 17 different places in one day. Got a job the NEXT DAY.

It is not a career, but it is incoming money and he has learned that he does not want to bag groceries for the rest of his life.

That's what responsible people do. You take any job you can find, and in the time you are not at work you look for a better one. Or you learn whatever you need to know to be qualified for a job doing something you want to do.

I don't care how they spend it. I certainly don't want to spend more money monitoring how people spend their benefits.

Give welfare recipients a fixed amount of money. Get rid of section 8, food stamps, day care allowance, utility assistance, Earned Income Tax Credit, etc.

When they run out of money, they're out of help just like the rest of us.

Citizens without children pay more in taxes.

Don't necessarily have to. Every merchant has a code associated with it when someone goes to make a purchase.

Military does this with the credit cards they issue for official duty. Can't use it at a strip club etc because the codes associated with those establishments are flagged and the card won't run.

Im well aware of what the child tax credit is, just not what your point is.

I think you are neglecting that the child tax credit, along with virtually any other credit, is not available to high earners.

Citizens without children likely make more money because of less at home distraction that could inhibit career development and thus salary. Those same "high earners" start losing the ability to take the credit at $110k and completely gone by $130k for a married couple.

So the people you are mocking are the people that raise a family with less than $110k,and give away 40% of that. So yes, I would have to say that at ~$70k to support a family, every dollar counts. This group really does have a legit gripe or at least internal conflict, with the fact that their quality of life may not suffer too badly if they can make about half of that, yet not do anything sort of work at all.

Without that dollar for dollar credit, these people would be even less inclined to go to work and thus support these people that dont.
