third one cost $60/month for employee-only coverae. But even if you have family coverage, the third option is only $150/month more than the first option.
I still SMH at the memory of a middle of night discussion in the ER with a male nurse who had a BUNCH of kids.
During a night shift in hospitals there comes a real slowdown around 3am and especially ER staff kinda use the slower pace to chit chat. Happened to be there on a payday BEFORE Obamacare and everyone was talking about the usual payday stuff (rent/mtg, loans, etc.).
Subject of deductions came up and this one guy with 9 or 10 kids was looking at insurance deductions. My finance background kicked in and I was like “that can’t be right “. Dude was paying over $23k/year for health insurance alone, he had private dental coverage. At the time that was just about the average annual income per capita for the state of La..

Don't most plans lock in to "family" coverage after 3 or 4 people are covered?
I know ours are
Employee
Employee + Spouse
Employee + Children
Family

Not bad at all if you ask me.
If you pay $600 bi-weekly for family coverage thats $14,400 per year.
I can believe $23K with all the extra dependents.

Remember the costs are different by company and when I say different they can be material.
Its always smart to really look over the medical coverage even if you are getting a nice raise to move jobs. The medical coverage alone can wipe out a good portion of your check if you arent paying attention.

That’s part of what brought up the discussion of his premiums. He was considering a job offer at the competition just a few blocks away (and was working a 2nd pt job at a clinic some days).
Keep in mind this was a decade ago so add inflation to that $23k/yr premium. Pretty much his premium alone was basically paying for 1 low level insurance employee to have a job in Louisiana.
ETA: come to think about it, half of us are already paying the other half essentially since 47% or more pay no Fed taxes but collect a check.

I see a doctor at ochsner in Baton Rouge. I don’t really understand how hospitals and clinics work. Could someone explain to me in very basic terms why ochsner is bad ? Not a troll. I have seen a PCP there for nearly ten years. Never had a problem.

I heard their leadership is bending the ear of politicians to bring back mask mandates which also require face shields and pushing for employees to get triple boosted

I saw two of kaisers transition team employees today at lunch across the street from Lafayette general today. I guess where there’s smoke there’s fire.

It really has nothing to do with individual docs. Most are very good.
It’s more the corporatization of medicine and lack of choice.
I also hear they treat their providers poorly and from and administrative standpoint prioritize money over patient care (what I hear but who knows)

Ochsner is a house of cards! My wife works in bills payable and they struggle to pay the bills!

I don't doubt it if they call it Bills Payable.
It's Accounts Payable.

Sarcasm?
How would a hospital system that rakes in at least a billion dollars in revenue and spends millions on advertising, sponsorships of major athletic teams, thousands of doctors, nurses, and support staff on a payroll, has multiple locations in two states, etc.; not have enough to pay their bills?

Most likely they don’t have enough staff and coders to get invoices processed accurately and in a timely fashion.

My friends that work there are hearing them too. Heard even the janitors are talking about it now.

How did you know this? Did they wear special shirts or something?
Maybe they are trying to hire people to relocate?
