That's why I was asking if it was worse than it is in the US. I can't imagine celebrity worship being more intense than it is here.

Much worse. They literally worship kpop stars over there. Recently there was one girl who had to apologize to her fans for being in a relationship because they felt betrayed that she loved someone other than her fans. It's insane.

Not just Korea, not too long ago in Japan, a weather broadcaster got heat from her fans and apologized for having a boyfriend
