They can drive whatever they want but a Prius is not Eco friendly. The batteries alone are more devastating to the environment than just driving a big heavy 4x4.
The expensive hybrids like a tesla are pretty impressive. But I need more range than a leaf would give and a Prius is only gas efficient if you drive really slow. Better off buying a blue motion polo vw

as long as they don’t go slow in the left lane, forget to turn right on red, or text while driving, I give no shits what they drive.

A. That isn't a hybrid, its fully electric.
B. You said all these people were retarded.

That isn't remotely true. Like, not even close. 51 MPG city, 48 highway.
You might not like the car, but you can't say it doesn't get insane gas mileage. It has a range of 540 miles per tank. That's awesome.
People might buy it so they can pay for less gas. It might have nothing to do with the environment.

FWIW, I drive a gas guzzling 4Runner

I downvoted the OP, but I do hate a Leaf.
Our tech support guy drives one and uses it to purposely sneak up on people in the parking lot and honk the horn.
I may have started unplugging his car at lunch, and I may have started parking in one of the EV spots and running the cord into the back of my SUV (but only when there are no spots available).

Ummm...no. He drives a Tesla which he ordered on Amazon after reading great reviews. But once he got the car he realized that the car's air-conditioning can only be controlled by the Nest thermostat which he absolutely hates and was the first thing he removed when he moved to his new house which came with the Nest. The car's backup camera is powered by Dropcam instead of a Foscam model which CAD prefers. But what really drives him up the wall is that the car's in-dash navigation and entertainment system runs on iOS and only supports the iPhone. He has decided not to trust Amazon reviews after this experience or order anything from that site.

If you are driving at interstate speeds most of the time than a clean diesel is more bang for you buck. It will save you gas money and reduce emissions (if you care about that kind of thing). A hybrid is designed for cities and suburbs where you start and stop alot.

They still get 48 MPG highway

Diesels tend to get about 30-percent better fuel economy than their conventional counterparts, while most hybrids concentrate their savings in stop-and-go city driving. That’s because hybrids’ electric drive works at low speeds and reduces most gas consumption in urban environment. Highway driving doesn’t involve much of the electric assist, so the savings there aren’t so great. (Hybrids also recoup some energy by coasting and braking to fill their battery, but those instances are few and far between on the highway.) For example, the most efficient midsized sedan we’ve tested, the Ford Fusion Hybrid, gets 39 mpg overall, but it barely improves that number to 41 mpg on the highway.
Here is a really good article that breaks it down as to which on is the most bang for your buck.

I didn't say you were wrong, just saying the MPG highway for Hybrids is still very good.

I never said it wasn't but a diesel offers better savings and you don't lose your dignity.

This is what I am fighting in this thread.
Who gives a shite?
ETA:
And better savings when you drive mainly on highways. For most people, that's not the case. So for most people, a hybrid is a better fuel saving option.

My TDI gets about 55 MPG on the interstate. 75-80 mpg if I sneak up behind an 18 wheeler.
