Just had the Jury Dury Qualification Questionnaire forwarded to me from a previous address

It was sent back in April and says that it I don't send in the questionnaire within ten days of the date of notice that I may be summoned to the court at my own expense.
Does anyone have any personal experience with these things? It's almost been seven months, so should I fill the thing out or just wait it out? Little new to the wonderful world of jury duty.

Call the Jury Manager and let them know the circumstances. They will usually work with you.
I got summoned back in June for an August jury. I completely forgot about it. Called 2 days after I was supposed to appear. They just put me back in the pool and I was summoned for the next jury.

If you don't show up you get summoned again, this time to show you had a legitimate reason.
Just call them and let them know and they'll give you further instructions. If you moved to another county/parish, then let them know you're no longer a resident and are therefore not qualified to serve.

When I skipped, a deputy with a Nigerian accent called and allowed me to pay the $800 fine by credit card. Very convenient.

I live in Baton Rouge and I also work on a towboat on the Mississippi River with a 20/10 schedule. The police showed up to my front door with a warrant for my arrest solely because I didn't show up for Jury Duty a month or so before, because I was working. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to miss work, nor am I going to annoy my employer with something as trivial as that. Especially, with having to find a man to cover my shifts while I'm away. Well, when the police showed up at the door, and I was at work again, they asked my girlfriend if I was home. She said, "No, he's away working." and explained to them my shift schedule and such. From what I understand, they completely took her word for it. Said that they understood, and that I should just be sure to notify the court with the phone number inside of the Jury Duty letter and left. I've never heard from them again. I also checked the EBR Sheriff's website to see if I still have a warrant and I don't. So, from my understanding, it's not really that serious and you should be alright.

Serious answer when it comes to any jury duty questions: Either do your civic duty and comply, or toss it in the trash if it was sent via regular mail which they usually are. You weren't properly served, so they can't prove you received it, and you can't be held in contempt or anything.

That’s one of the foundations of our judicial system. Everyone has to do it - the unemployed, the mothers of small children, college students, firefighters, surgeons, and even tugboat workers. It one of the very few duties we physically have to do as a citizen. Your employer is by law required to give you time off for it.

Had like 4 and only responded the 4th time saying I was moving. 0 consequences.
