Just had my first issue with my DD kenmore washer

I thought it was related to all the outlets being swapped yesterday..it simply would not come on. I connected to a different outlet, tried everything..nothing.
wife was PISSED. we had just started a load of clothes so the drum was full of water.
i pulled the panel...all the wiring and harnesses looked fine.
i clicked the sensor manually a few times with a screwdriver..nothing.
so i finally took the top off and while i was messing around underneath checking out the motor, etc. it finally dawned on me to LOOK UNDER THE WASHER LID.
the little sensor housing was fricked to hell. the lid piece was pushing the button, no doubt but the housing was cracked and nothing was making contact.
TL;DR, ordered one for $6 on amazon last night and its supposed to arrive today

Sensor housing??
There is no sensor on a direct drive.
You have two kinds of switches. Hidden style and flap style.
Hidden style is under control panel and just clips in and out.
Flap style is more common and it is pushed by a pin on the door lid.
The only machines with door sensors are GE and technically it's a reed switch.
If you have a lock lid, that's a VMW whirlpool but no way that's only $6.
By the price listed I assume you have a hidden style.

Did you get an ERP brand or Jason?
Honestly, whirlpool brand parts aren't much more and have a year warranty. I never go cheap in the switches. That switch costs me $13 locally.
Another even quicker fix is to just cut the white and grey (or brown) wires at the switch and connect them.
Bypass the switch.
It's for safety, but most people have a lot of issues taking the shell off a dd and putting it back on.
Just two screws on panel and two spring clamps.
Though most people can't figure it out.

Bypass won't hurt it, it just don't stop when you open it.

good question. i just searched on the whirlpool part # and looked at the ebay image (had same 'made in mexico' label on it)
but no, i didn't make sure it was OEM i guess.

Lol, couldn't believe switch we that cheap. I never check ebay anymore.
