Our facility has put out a request for cards to be sent to our nursing home .. just "thinking of you wishes". There's been a great response. Maybe try that as well ... having mail means that someone will have to bring it to their room meaning they'll see a face!!
Worth a try. Prayers for your mom ... it is so very tough on the residents, the families and the caregivers.

This would be hard for me to understand. ESPECIALLY if there's LTC insurance and the means to cover home care. Maybe it's something that they've talked about prior to the confusion setting in??? But if the LTC was bought when there was NO confusion then I can't imagine that having been the conversation.
My mom has made me PROMISE, SWEAR that we just put her in a "good home" when it's time. She will seriously pull my toes after she's gone if I don't and will haunt me forever. Still not sure how I feel about that but I love her enough to honor her requests. I did ask if it could be a home near me (I live 1.5 hours from her) and she said "hell I don't care -- I likely won't know where I am anyway".
NONE of the decisions that need to be made are easy.

It's definitely sad.
I think a lot of us can still do some things for older relatives if we can't go visit them.
My mother still lives at home but isn't really going out at all so we simply call her on the speaker phone setting. It's become a standing appointment for the past 3 months to call her while we're in the kitchen making dinner.
It's gotten to the point that she's started bringing out things like her cornbread or dessert recipes for us to make.
I think a lot of us can still do some things for older relatives if we can't go visit them.

Those video chat photo frame things seem great for this. Or like an iPad on a stand? I don't know. I've seen people doing it during all of this virus stuff while cooking and it seems like a great idea. Like a virtual happy hour.

My mom and dad (divorced) have started getting out and seeing their immediate family some in the past few months. In Apri we sang my mom happy birthday via Zoom meeting though. It was kind of sad.

Yeah, I wish we could set up do that but my mom's desire for technology she has to deal with was tapped out with e-mail (without attachments).
Still, just us on the speaker phone seems space age enough for her.
