Never heard of them.

About 2 years ago a security guy came to one of my patient's home and while he talked to her on her porch, his partner entered her home thru a rear door that was open and stole her purse and drugs.

Better than nothing I guess but I recommend a .45 or 12 gauge, unless your dainty little hands can't handle that much firepower

The company is based out of Salt Lake City so most of their seasonal workers are Mormons.

You dead.

I had one come by last year. Told him no, gave him water, then told him about my collection of weapons and how I daydream about someone trying to get into my house. He got the message

If the guy wouldn't have been a dickhead and try to get me to sign up when I didn't know I was signing a contract, it didn't sound like a bad deal.

He said scale of 1-10, how interested are you?

I said "5-6"

He responds "so not really worth coming back then right?"

Me: it was before, but frick no now

Yeah, my dude was cool as shite.

ETA: he came three days in a row before I agreed. I wanted to talk to my neighbor that used them.

Mine too. I told him I don't sign contracts without think about it for 24 hours. He told me he'd come back the next evening. I did my research; he came around sunset and my system was installed that night.

Decided to look at their website, and found a verify rep link. Think that's pretty neat.

Also, noticed this nugget of info though on wikipedia:
The states of Washington, Louisiana, South Carolina, Minnesota and Tennessee have all fined Vivint/APX for violating state licensing codes.

And from vivint website:

Minimum $99 Activation Fee. 60 Month Monitoring Agreement (48 months in CA) at a minimum of $49.99/mo, home ownership, and satisfactory credit history required. Local permit fees and/or sales tax may apply. Services not available in all areas or in Louisiana.

They came to our neighborhood last year. Something seemed off about the whole thing.

My next door neighbor signed up with them, and while the setup is pretty cool, he says he has a lot of problems and it's hard to get things fixed. The salespeople are usually college students on break.

$50 a month is what happens when they give you an alarm system. If you were to only pay half of the install, it would be $50 with Custom.

I can only go on what I've experienced with my system but I haven't had any major issues. The only thing to come up was a reoccurring low battery signal. I called Vivent and they confirmed that the sensor was messed up, not the battery. They sent a new one in two days and walked me through replacing it over the phone free of charge.

The best feature is the 24 hour monitoring for false alarms. A few times we have set ours off accidentally. Vivent contacts you immediately through the intercom system to confirm the alarm before notifying the police. This saves the Sheriff from having to come out for false alarms.

I also can arm/disarm my system through my smartphone. I have two security cameras that I can view through my phone, and I can control the two thermostats through my phone.

Ah, makes sense. I paid for my custom install in full.

I shun all solicitors. I walk to door and point to the road while shaking my head. If I want to talk business I will call you and make an appointment.
