I had the opportunity to do that on a hospital stay recently. MRI is a wonderful tool, but those frickers are expensive!

Cervical spine and brain... having some issues and trying to eliminate some things .

They now put these little mirrors on the head brace that allows you to see out the tunnel... so that helped .

Had one done a month or so ago. Fell asleep in the tube. Gave the chick a “wtf” face when she pulled me out and woke me up.

The injection of contrast media isn’t a load of fun either

Thank goodness they were able to inject the contrast media through the IV, so they didn’t have to stick me again.

Did your nuts feel like they were on fire?

Can't do MRI's, only CT's due to the wires in my chest.

A couple years ago I did 4 with no meds. Barely made it through. Had both cervical and lumbar with and without contrast. It was bullshite because my doctors son had just opened a new MRI facility so suddenly my doc decided I needed all my MRIs “updated”.

Got to make the payments on the MRI machine and pay the techs to operate it and the billing staff to milk the insurance. He probably was an investor in his son’s MRI venture.

Someone should setup an MRI business that charges cash only at reasonable rates.

About 10 years ago, I had one. It cost about 1,500 billed to the insurance at a stand alone imaging center. I was expected to pay about 500 upfront (deductible plus 80% for the rest).

This year a different doctor wanted to do one on my knee with an in-office but separate company for its imaging center. The upfront cost seemed reasonable about 400, but I declined it as the pain subsided before the scan. I don’t know if this was a cash rate as they must have known that I hadn’t met my deductible.

What is crazy about medical billing, I had CAT scan and ultrasounds of my veins at a doctor’s office and that were coded as a doctor’s visits so no expensive charges except for a copay for the visit.

I even had varicose vein procedures in office that were coded as in office visits and were charged as a regular specialist copay.

I have a herniated L-4/L-5 disk which has been bothering me on and off for 20 years.

I've had surgery, 5-6 shots and probably 7 MRI's over the years.

It never bothered me until I got older, now I get claustrophobic as frick in that thing to the point where I can't do it anymore.
