Hold on. You say "you handle money pretty well". But you just admitted to paying $1,200 to upgrade to a new phone that you (and I quote) "knew they would not be much of an upgrade".
Come on now.

How many iphones did it take for you to figure this out?
I'm not saying I blame Apple for doing it this way I guess its smart.
The brainwashed Apple cult falls for it over and over again.

Wife's decision, not mine.

So you got two of these things? Please tell me they're not $1,200 each.
By the way, does she ever open her nightstand and let you see your balls?
(Full disclosure: I'm posting from my 3 or so year old work/personal iPhone 6 Plus)

Yes, they were, unfortunately.

She's the bread winner, so I cannot say much to this shite.
and I'm a successful (at least I think so) attorney. She has a very very very successful business. I married up. So most financial decisions are mine, this one was not.

shite
You spent $2,400 on fricking cell phones?!? Phones you knew did about the same things and were not much better than the phones you already had?!?

6s is only 2 years old.

Well I thought it was dumb too, but I didn't have much say since I make most other financial decisions and she insisted on these?
Gotta pick your battles...

However old it is. I don't keep up with it. I put the "or so" prt in there because I honestly can't remember exactly how long I've had this phone. I have AT&T through Caterpillar. All my cellular stuff is handled through a company called "Ovation". When I get a notice I'm due for an upgrade, I pick which phone I want. Costs me $15 per month payroll deduction, that includes unlimited voice and data.

Honestly the way the plans are set up its only like 7-8 bucks more a month than if you get the iPhone 8 or whatever.
Hardly anyone buys the phone straight up $1200. It's in monthly installments.

I have never been a proponent of propriety hardware and software; Apple is both. We buy Android phones because we definitely get more bang for the buck.

We just upgraded my wife's phone a few weeks ago. She had a 6 plus. We went to the AT&T store (I get a 20% Cat discount) and she looked at both the X and the 8. She decided on the 8 because she could not see where the X was enough of an upgrade from the 8 to be worth the extra money.

These phones are actually retailed at $1500 a piece... but with the 20% discount from Verizon, they were $1200....
I cannot imagine the food stamp person to purchase this shite for $1500. I don't even know how it would happen now.

Yeah I get that. And I'm still rocking the plain Jane iPhone 6. Not even the 6+
I was just saying that since basically everyone does the 2 year payment plan option of whatever, it's a minor increase in your monthly bill compared to the 8.
Payment plans are the way they get ya. "Oh come on. It's only $10 more a month! That's like 33 cents a day basically. You don't want to be the loser without the top tech because you won't pay 33 cents more a day!"

It's more like $35 a month difference, but I get your point.
ETA: was $35 for the iPhone 6, probably $60 difference for these damn iPhone 10s

Ah, I undetstand. Since I get my phone through work and also get a 20% discount on personal phones for my family, phone payments is not something I've ever considered.
