It can vary for sure depending on size.

Wife (no pics) had one for the first time in her life 4 months after our first child was born. They suspect due to the calcium supplements and all the other changes with pregnancy.

She went natural and said it was a close second to that so I wish you luck that it is a small stone.

Three words.
Dark Cherry Concentrate.
It will make that sucker slide out with a quickness.
Most pharmacies have it with vitamins etc...

Trust me when I say the Toradol an anti inflammatory drug will fix the pain. No pain pill will give you any relief when the stone is on the move.

I had my first attack in a big truck sleeper three states from home. I thought I was having a heart attack. Heavy sweating, nausea and intense pain. Imagine someone jabbing you in the side with a shovel and twisting it around. Doc told me the pain is from muscle contractions trying to force the stone down the tube and that’s why it compares to child birth.

Attack began at work. By the time I got home I crawled down the hallway to the bedroom. Went to ER puking. They started an IV with some good drugs.

Went home with some pain meds. I did find that a hot bath helped a little.

My Dad was an NFL Offensive Lineman and one of the toughest son-of-a-bitches you’ve even seen. He got one when I was a kid and I’m still traumatized by the sounds of him screaming through a wall at the ER. Good luck, hoss!

Study up on Stoicism and meditation. You detach from your body and observe the pain but don’t participate in it.

As everyone else stated, P-A-I-N.

Hopefully your stone isn't large and can pass without surgery or having to get a laser to bust them up.

They will give you some good pain meds to get you through it comfortably.

Drink the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon in some warm water about every 1/2 hour.

Try to save a stone if all possible and have your urologist examine the stone to see what kind it is.

Most kidney stones are calcium-oxalate so if this is the type you have, you can keep them under control with some changes in your diet.

I used to take lots of vitamins and drink those protein shakes that were loaded with all kinds of vitamins/minerals and other crap.
Plus it didn't help that took antacids like candy(acid reflux).
All that stuff was accumulating in my kidneys over the years.

Had one 5 yrs ago and 3days ago..I’ve missed two days of work in 20 yrs and both came the day after both stones hit me during the night. Feels like you’ve been kicked in the balls, trying to pee squirts of razor blades and got a kidney punch from a mule all at the same time. Drink lots of water and beer and just wait for the relief after it’s gone.

If you have to have it removed.......so sorry. The urologist will insert a steel scope the diameter of a pencil into the urethra. Then incert a wire through the scope into the ureter on up to the kidney. A ureteroscope will then be placed over the wire on up to the stone. A basket or 3 prong grasper will hopefully grab said stone and pull it out. If the stone is embedded into the side of the ureter, a laser will be inserted and the stone blasted into pieces and removed. A stent will be placed and you will continue to hurt and pass small stones. I have seen this procedure many many times. I hope and pray I never have a stone.

I had three bouts with kidney stones. One was excruciating, one was bad, and one wasn't so bad.

If the pain is mostly gone, it's moved into your bladder. The worst is over.
